As the storm continues across parts of our state, many of us will begin digging out.

Please keep these important safety reminders in mind:

โš ๏ธ Assume all downed wires are live. Stay away and report them immediately.

Make sure all doors and means of egress are clear.

Clear snow from HVAC, dryer, and other utility vents.

๐Ÿš’ Locate and clear snow from your nearest fire hydrant.

If you must drive, slow down and donโ€™t crowd the plow.

A few simple actions help protect your family, your neighbors, and the crews working to keep Connecticut safe.

Stay patient. Stay alert. Stay safe.

Final Preparations Before the Blizzard

If a major storm is approaching, now is the time to finish your preparations. A few simple steps taken today can prevent problems tomorrow.

Before the snow begins:

๐Ÿšซ Check for local parking bans and move vehicles as required
๐Ÿช‘ Secure loose outdoor items that could blow or become buried
๐Ÿ”‹ Fully charge battery-powered devices, including cell phones, flashlights, and radios
โ„๏ธ Prepare snow removal equipment and fuel snowblowers safely
โšก Ready generators now and confirm they operate properly โ€” and remember, generators are for outdoor use only

Preparation reduces emergency calls, protects property, and keeps responders focused on true emergencies.

Take the time now. Stay ready. Stay safe.
