I finished in the top three in the Republican primary and will be moving on to the general election in November.

Thank you to everyone who supported, encouraged, and prayed for me during this campaign. Most importantly, I thank God for the opportunity to serve and for the many blessings He has provided along the way.

And no, I didn't create this graphic myself, as nobody wants to see what happens when I try graphic design.

Thank you again for your support. God bless.

We sent this mailer to a few voters before tomorrow's primary election.

Over the past few weeks, I've had the opportunity to meet many residents and learn from their experiences. I'm grateful for the encouragement and support so many of you have shared along the way.

Tomorrow, the voters decide. If I win, it will be on to the general election. If I lose, it will be to candidates I respect. Whatever happens, I know it's ultimately in God's hands.

As my grandfather used to say, "It's all over but the crying." 😀

When I hand people my card, I usually ask a question: “What’s on your mind? What would you like to see improved if I win this thing?”

Most people are generous with their time, yet I’m always surprised by how many apologize for not knowing more about government or local issues. But why should they? Voters are busy people and can't be expected to become experts on government. They elect people to study the issues, make informed decisions, and represent them honestly. Unfortunately, it just doesn't seem to work out that way, and citizens have become rightly cynical about politics.

If I win this thing, I will never forget who I work for, and I will proudly represent the citizens of Minnehaha County.

Completed final survey of voters in Minnehaha County. While the results are a little different from the first week, voters consistently list property taxes and spending as their main concerns. Many residents also like to talk about politics and candidates. If elected, I intend to focus on issues important to Minnehaha County residents.

I hope each of you enjoy a meaningful Memorial Day. As a day to remember, my first thoughts go to my late wife, who was a Godly woman, and is buried at Arlington National Cemetery. Also, to my father, who served his country proudly, and is buried in the Walnut Ridge Cemetery, which I rebuilt in his memory. I miss them both dearly and hope only to live a life worthy of their example. ❤🇺🇸

It was a productive first week of campaigning, and I learned a lot about the people and issues of District 2. My campaign partner for this first week was Sen. Sue Peterson (R-D13).
Even though it's outside her home district, Senator Peterson volunteered to help because she is a hard worker and a loyal friend. I first met then-Rep. Peterson while serving in the State Senate, choosing her as the house sponsor of my "Truth in Sentencing" bill. Against all odds, she shepherded it through the House of Representatives, and it became Law. God knows, there aren't many people you can count on in politics, and I'm proud to know a Godly, principled person like Sen. Peterson.
Next, I'm moving on to my home district (9) of western Sioux Falls and Hartford. 😀 👍🏻

I didn't plan on running for office again, but feel called to it and would appreciate your support. 😀🙏

As some of you know, I've been working on a book, tentatively titled "Bailey: A Wonderful Life," for the better part of two years. It's about the very-real George and Mary Bailey, the Bailey State Bank, the su***de of their son, George Bailey Jr., and how their small-town story inspired an early screenplay for the beloved film, "It's a Wonderful Life."
With the manuscript in near-final form, I've sent copies to a small group of friends, historians and editors, hoping to get critical feedback so I can improve and fine-tune the story for its audience. Thank YOU to those who have supported and encouraged me through this process. God willing, I'll finish the editing and rewrite soon and turn my attention to finding a literary agent and publisher. I'm hopeful the book will be published this fall for the 80th anniversary of "It's a Wonderful Life."
If you'd like to offer advice or insights, please feel free to reach out in a message or in comments below, and I'll follow-up with you. Thanks for your time, all the best.
