Here's something I never knew. William Benson, the father of our classmate (and my lockermate) Jeff Benson, was a famous (and somewhat notorious) tax protester and coauthor of the book, The Law That Never Was: The Fraud of the 16th Amendment and Personal Income Tax.

TTHS Class of '65 - The 50th Reunion Dinner is just around the corner, Saturday, September 26 at Ravisloe Country Club. Have you made your reservation? Does anyone have an old graduate program that gives the exact date of our graduation ceremony? It must be right around now (last week of May).

Speaking of dates, now would be a good time to send in your reservation and payment, since the venues are going to require deposits to hold our dates.

Who else went "down state" in March of 1965 to watch the tournament? We lost the 3rd place game to Marshall. But I just discovered that Marshall had to forfeit all of their tournament wins, so officially we came in 3rd. And of course, everyone remembers what happened a year later... (Bill B)

We're just warming up here for the TTHS Class of '65 50th event on September 26! In the band from the class of '65 are Ralph Whipple on trumpet and Bill Bielby on bass. At the reunion event we'll also be joined by classmates Tom Pfeil and Bryan Salvage, and in spirit, by Bob Gedzun. Other TTHS alums in the Newports Blues/Rock Allstars are Terry Sonny Lee Tritt (who joined the band in 1962) on tenor sax Darryl A. Neil X on baritone sax and awesome jazz vocals , Jeffrey Alan Sachs on guitar and trombone, and Ed Beard on keyboards. We'll also try to get Bob "Skip" Jones to come up from Bloomington, IL to join us. The other band members are terrific musicians from the Calumet region, wild man (and occasional elf) Mark M. Rongers on vocals and guitar, David Collins on drums, and Jumpin' Gene Halton on harmonica (like you've never heard it been played). Ralph, Terry, Darryl, Jeff, and Ed all played with the Thorntoneers (Jeff and Ed were recruited right out of grade school!). We do a killer version of Peter Gunn (no punn intended), and you can expect to hear a few more Thorntoneer standards that evening.
