Harwood Heights Youth Advisory Council

Harwood Heights Youth Advisory Council Promoting community spirit and youth participation in Harwood Heights, IL Harwood Heights Youth Advisory Council is a permanent forum for the ideas of young people in the village government.
(1)

Our purpose is: 1. To recommend to the Village board programs that promote community spirit and participation of Harwood Heights youth; 2. To educate and inform Harwood Heights youth of legislation and programs that affect the quality of life of Village residents; and 3. To organize and develop effective modes of communication to reach Harwood Heights youth. Since our creation in June 2014, we’ve been busy in our efforts to fulfill our purpose. In July, we wrote an adopted bylaws for our organization. In August, the whole Youth Advisory Council board volunteered at the Harwood Heights Summer Fest, our annual village-wide festival. In September, we created an internship position at the Village for a YAC member to gain real world experience about running a village. And just last week, we held a voter registration rally at Ridgewood High School to celebrate National Voter Registration Day. We are putting our best foot forward as an organization to help inform our peers.
