Unfortunately, this week we have had to close our village playground as it has been vandalized and it unsafe for children. We are working on it and hope to have it open early next week. If anyone has any information on any of this, please let us know.

We know it's some time out, but we did want to let everyone know that this year, our 13th year, for the first time EVER our July 4th Golf Cart parade will be on July 2nd. July 4th falls on a Saturday this year and this is just not ideal for anyone as people are leaving, arriving and those who live here are also dealing with that. Friday, we found out last year, is not much better! SO... we are doing it on Thursday, July 2nd in the best interest of everyone! If you have ever said to yourself, I’d like to pay forward or help others. This is one way to help support many. At the end of the season, the earnings from the fish fry after expenses are split four ways. The Hatteras Fire Department, the Hatteras Ladies Fire Auxiliary, The Hatteras Civic Association, and the Hatteras United Methodist Church. These organizations then use their share to support other local requests such as the Hatteras Library, the Hatteras UMC Community Preschool, Cape Hatteras United Methodist Men Food Pantry, HI CERT, Hatteras Island Cancer Foundation, Young Life, Hatteras Church Angel Gift Program, Hatteras Assembly of God Church, Salvation Army, Costa Rica Mission Trip, Hatteras Island Meals, as well as many others. And there's a dessert table!
