Before I ever wore a badge, I wore a uniform.

I served in the Marine Corps, followed by the Mississippi Air National Guard, and then 19 years in the Army National Guard, where I retired as a Major and Chaplain with the 112th Military Police Battalion.

That’s 26 years of learning what it means to lead with discipline, serve with purpose, and put something bigger than yourself first.

Now, I’m bringing that same commitment, leadership, and dedication to Lamar County.

I’ve spent my life serving others. I’m ready to keep serving you.

These aren’t just words on a campaign graphic. They’re the principles I believe should guide our Sheriff’s Department and the standard I’ll hold myself and our department to every day in office.

Leadership means more than making promises. It means showing up, being accountable, and taking action.

I’m grateful for the opportunity to connect with Pastor Jeremy Smith of First Pentecostal Church of Purvis and spend time talking about our community and the people we all work to serve.

I’m Jay Yarbrough, and I’m running for Sheriff of Lamar County.

I spent 26 years serving in the United States Marine Corps and Mississippi National Guard, and I retired as Administrative Captain with the Lamar County Sheriff’s Department.

Throughout my career, I’ve dedicated my life to service, leadership, and accountability. Now, I’m ready to bring that same discipline and commitment to leading the Lamar County Sheriff’s Department.
