Haughton, LA - The Town of Haughton joins our nation, our military community, and the families of the eight Airmen who lost their lives Monday near Edwards Air Force Base in mourning this tragic loss.

This loss is especially personal to our community. Our prayers are with their families, friends, fellow Airmen, and all who knew and loved them.

The B-52 has a special place in the heart of this community through our deep connection with Barksdale Air Force Base. Haughton is home to many veterans, active-duty Airmen, military families, and citizens whose lives are closely tied to the mission and service of the United States Air Force.

In honor and remembrance of these eight Airmen, the Town of Haughton has lowered flags to half-staff at municipal buildings.

May we never forget their service, their sacrifice, and the families they leave behind.

-Sincerely, Mayor Hunter J. Timms

Water System Update - Boil Advisory In Effect

At this time, crews have completed necessary repairs. The water system continues to recover and customers may experience discoloration from sediment. The boil advisory remains in effect and an update will be provided once the advisory is lifted.

UPDATE:

9PM, Saturday 6/13

Water System Update — Boil Advisory Issued

At approximately 4:30 p.m. today, the Town of Haughton water system experienced a main water line break on one of our transmission lines. This incident caused a system-wide loss of pressure and water service interruptions for some customers.

The break has been isolated, and the system is currently recovering. Water pressure should begin returning shortly. Crews are working to complete the repair, which is expected to take approximately 3 hours (Midnight).

As a result of the temporary pressure loss, a system-wide boil advisory is now in effect for Town of Haughton water customers. This advisory is being issued as a precautionary measure in accordance with standard water system safety procedures whenever a system-wide pressure loss occurs.

Customers should bring water to a rolling boil for at least one full minute before using it for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, making ice, or food preparation.

The boil advisory will remain in effect until required water samples are collected, submitted, and cleared through laboratory analysis. The Town is working with state testing facilities to expedite the analysis and will notify customers as soon as the advisory is lifted.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as our crews work to restore normal service.
