Our neighbors on Hayden Lake, you’re invited to participate in the 2026 Lake Debris Removal Program. This annual effort helps remove large floating debris and shoreline junk that can clutter the lake, create navigation hazards, and impact water quality.

June 15 is the deadline for delivering debris to the
Mokins Bay collection site.

Avista is taking action to respond to the hot, windy, dry weather conditions to decrease the potential for wildfires in the North Idaho regions, and across our Washington and Idaho service areas.

Avista will be implementing, if warranted, a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS), which is when we could preemptively turn off power for the safety of your community. A PSPS event is used only in extreme weather conditions. Avista will use this method to reduce the threat of wildfires.

Join us for a Live Conversation about Wildfire, PSPS and everything else Avista is doing to help mitigate these risks on Tuesday May 12th at 6:00 p.m.

You’ll hear from Avista personnel about the changes we’re making to reduce wildfire risk in your community. We will also be joined by our partnering experts within the wildfire space on ways to help you become resilient around your homes.

You will also have an opportunity to ask questions and provide valuable feedback throughout the event.

Three ways to participate

1. Register in advance using the button link below. Then, wait by your phone and receive a call on May 12th at 6:00 p.m.

2. Call in at 6:00 p.m. on May 12th to join the toll-free call:

English (888) 400-1932 | Spanish (888) 400-9342

3. Answer our call on your phone. If we have your correct phone number on file, you’ll automatically receive a call at 6:00 p.m. on May 12th, and you can decide to join (or not) at that time.

If you live here, recreate here, or care about Hayden Lake, this is worth a look.

The Hayden Lake Watershed Improvement District (HLWID) has released the Preliminary Design Report for the Hayden Lake and Hayden Creek Restoration Project.

This marks an important early step in addressing water quality in Hayden Lake, especially in the North Arm where harmful algal blooms (HABs) have occurred in recent years.

While this report represents an early stage (10% design), it outlines potential strategies to improve overall lake health. These concepts will continue to be refined in Phase 2 through additional data collection, engineering, and environmental review.

Protecting Hayden Lake is a community effort, and your involvement matters as this project moves forward.

Color Psychology 101: Orange

Orange is the color of energy, optimism, and action. It blends the passion of red with the happiness of yellow, which is why it feels warm, friendly, and motivating.

Psychologically, orange is linked to:
- Enthusiasm and confidence
- Creativity and playfulness
- Social connection and friendliness
- Movement and momentum

It is a color that invites participation. Brands and spaces that use orange often feel approachable, fun, and a little bold. It is great for encouraging action without feeling aggressive.

Orange says:
“Come on in.”
“Let’s do this.”
“This is going to be fun.”

How does orange make you feel?
