To the citizens of Prairie County, my name is Joe Mills, and I am running for Prairie County Sheriff. I am a man of faith, integrity, and someone you can trust and depend on. It is time for new leadership in our Sheriff’s Office.

As Sheriff, I will make sure our dispatchers receive the training they need to do their jobs more effectively. I will make sure our jail staff are trained in a timely manner and are properly certified through jail standards, with the tools they need to do their jobs safely and effectively.

I will make sure our deputies receive continuous training so they can serve safely and effectively, because you deserve the very best. Our deputies will be on the back roads of our county day and night, protecting what you value most. You will know our deputies like you used to. Somewhere along the way, we lost that connection, and I will bring it back through strong community policing.

I will be a Sheriff who is responsible with taxpayer money and careful with the department budget. I will promote unity among all employees within the Sheriff’s Office. I will also strengthen relationships between our Sheriff’s Office and our local, state, and federal law enforcement partners.

As Sheriff, I will utilize our reserve deputies and constables to help maintain law and order throughout the county. I will make sure they receive the proper training to help accomplish this mission.

I am not a politician. I am a man of faith, a husband, a father, and a man of honesty and integrity. I am a pastor and a full time police officer. I am fully committed to this position and to serving you.

As Sheriff, I will be fair and tough on crime. I am sure I will make mistakes, because I am human, and we all make mistakes. Our mistakes do not define who we are. We learn from them and move forward as we work together to keep Prairie County a safe place to live and a place we are proud to call home.

True leadership is built on integrity, faith, and a genuine love for the community. Prairie County is not just where I live. It is home. I was born and raised here, and my family has deep roots in this county. My faith has guided my life, my service, and my commitment to others.

There have been statements suggesting that I would not be committed to the office of Sheriff. I want the citizens of Prairie County to know that I will be fully dedicated and faithful to serving in this role. My life has been built on service. For the past eighteen years, I have served as a preacher of the Gospel of Christ. For ten of those years, I have served as a Pastor and associate pastor, leading with compassion, accountability, and strong moral principles.

My commitment to Prairie County is also reflected in my family. I have been devoted to my wife for twenty three years, and together we have raised our children right here in Prairie County. Family, faith, and community are the foundation of who I am and how I will serve as your Sheriff.

I promise to always be fair, honest, and straightforward with everyone. I will work tirelessly as your next Sheriff if the citizens of Prairie County give me the opportunity to serve. I believe Prairie County deserves strong and trustworthy leadership in the Sheriff’s Office. I have spoken with many of you who have expressed the desire for new leadership. The time for that change is now.

Our deputies and staff deserve leadership that values integrity accountability teamwork and respect. When our people are supported trained and treated fairly they serve our community with excellence and pride.

Citizens of Prairie County,

You deserve a Sheriff who is honest, trustworthy, and transparent. A Sheriff who works for the people, not politics. A Sheriff who listens, shows up, and keeps the door open not only for the men and women who serve in the department, but for every citizen in our county.

You deserve a Sheriff guided by faith, integrity, and strong values. Someone who believes in accountability, respect, and doing what is right even when no one is watching. A Sheriff you are proud to call your own.

I believe Prairie County deserves leadership that puts people first. Leadership that protects our families, our freedoms, and our way of life. Leadership that understands this badge represents service, not power.
