At approximately 14:56, Paint Rock Fire was dispatched to 417 Strawberry Flats Rd for a reported structure fire.Upon arrival, firefighters advised the Chief that the structure was fully involved.

Engine 802 responded, fire personnel encountered heavy fire conditions upon arrival Firefighters immediately initiated an aggressive attack to contain the blaze and prevent the fire from spreading to a nearby structure.

The occupant was able to safely evacuate the residence. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Mutual aid was requested from Oneida and Huntsville Fire Department. the structure was a complete loss.

🚌📚 SCHOOL STARTS TOMORROW! 📚🚌

Tomorrow marks the first day of school for many students across Scott County. As school buses return to our roads and children head back to the classroom, we ask everyone to do their part to help keep our students, bus drivers, and families safe.

Please remember:

🚸 Slow down in school zones and obey all posted speed limits.

🛑 STOP for school buses when red lights are flashing and the stop arm is extended.

👮 Watch for School Resource Officers directing traffic around schools. Follow their instructions and be patient as traffic moves through school zones.

👀 Watch for children walking, biking, and crossing streets—especially near schools, neighborhoods, and bus stops.

📵 Put away distractions and stay focused behind the wheel.

A few extra moments of patience can make all the difference. Let’s work together to make sure every child gets to school and back home safely.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Ridgewood Volunteer Fire Department and the family of Assistant Chief Marty Braden.

Marty was a dedicated member of his community for many years and will be deeply missed by all who knew and served alongside him.

Rest easy, Brother.

With heavy hearts and unwavering faith, we celebrate the life of Marty “Mudflap” Braden, who entered into the presence of the Lord and Savior surrounded by his loving wife, Amy “Mamie” Braden, and his family.

Marty loved God deeply and loved his life as a reflection of his faith. His greatest earthly blessing was his wife, Amy “Mamie” Braden, whom he cherished deeply. Their love and bond were a beautiful part of his life, and she stood by his side with love and devotion.

Marty was a devoted father who loved his family with his whole heart. He was blessed with five children: Calvin Braden and Kyle Braden of Lafollette; Alyssa Braden and her husband Josh of Briceville; Cody Phillips and Jules of Rocky Top; and Brianna Wilson and her husband Jeremiah of Briceville; parents, Barb and Robert Bullman of Rocky Top; brother, Randy Braden; sisters, Beverly, Janice, Katie, Melissa, and Tina. He was also blessed with three precious bonus girls, Elizabeth Osborne, Candi Marsh, and Brandi McCarty, whom he welcomed into his life and loved as his own. Marty’s heart was big, and his love for his family knew no boundaries.

Marty was a proud grandfather to seventeen grandchildren: Colton, Paytyn, Jasper, and Alidea Braden, Jericha, Layla, Bella, Boy, Myah, and Zola Wilson, and Rylan, Lakein, Emersynn, Re*****on, and Auden Phillips, along with three precious babies in Heaven, who brought him endless happiness and filled his life with love and laughter.

For 28 years, Marty faithfully served the City of Jacksboro. He took great pride in his work, and the friendships he built with his coworkers were among the greatest blessings of his life. He also faithfully served as the Assistant Chief of the Ridgewood Fire Department, dedicating himself to protecting and serving his community with courage and compassion.

From the time he was a young boy, Marty had a passion for trucks and heavy equipment. Whether he was operating them, admiring them, or talking about them, they always brought him happiness. He also had a special love for his dogs, who were loyal companions throughout his life.

Marty was blessed with countless friends whom he loved dearly. He treasured every friendship, but his close friends, Kyle Goodman, Dylan Roach, and Randy Martin held a special place in his heart. These friendships brought him many memories, laughter, and moments that he had cherished deeply.

One of Marty’s favorite daily routines was stopping by Casey’s for his coffee and drinks. It was never just about the stop - it was about the people. Over the years, he made many special friends there, and those visits became a cherished part of his life.

If you ever had the privilege of knowing Marty, you knew laughter. He had a way of making everyone around him smile, and his joyful spirit was contagious. His kindness, quick wit, and generous heart left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

The family would also like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Marty’s caregivers. Thank you for always understanding his needs, showing him compassion, and caring for him with patience, dignity, and love. Your kindness and dedication meant more than words can express.

More than anything, Marty wanted people to know the love of God. His faith was the foundation of his life, and he never missed an opportunity to share the hope, grace, and love he found in Jesus Christ.

While his family and friends grieve his passing, they find comfort in knowing that Marty is now in the presence of the Lord he loved so deeply. His legacy of faith, service, family, friendship, laughter, and love will continue to live on through everyone fortunate enough to have known him.

Marty will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

The family will receive friends at the Leach Family Funeral Home and Cremation on Friday August 7, 2026 from 5-7pm with the funeral service to follow at 7pm with Rev. Jeremiah Wilson, Rev. At approximately 17:04 Paint Rock Fire was dispatched to a structure fire at 331 Butler Lane. Engine 803 responded, and 899 requested mutual aid from the Oneida, Pine Hill, East 63, and Huntsville Fire Departments.

Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy fire conditions and immediately initiated an aggressive attack to contain the blaze. the structure was a complete loss.

All occupants were able to safely evacuate the residence, and fortunately, no injuries were reported.

All personnel cleared the scene and returned to service at approximately 20:13

At approximately 19:07, Paint Rock Fire was dispatched to the area of 1435 Tunnel Hill Rd for a reported single-vehicle accident with the vehicle on its side in a creek.

Brush 1 and Engine 802 responded to the scene. Upon arrival, fire personnel located the vehicle resting on its passenger side over a small embankment. The driver had already exited the vehicle prior to firefighters' arrival.

Crews checked the vehicle for fire hazards, secured the scene, and assisted with traffic control until the vehicle was removed. The driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital by a family member.

All personnel cleared the scene and returned to service at approximately 20:39.

At approximately 11:44, Paint Rock Fire was dispatched to 2676 Paint Rock Road for a reported structure fire.

Upon arrival, firefighters found a mobile home fully engulfed in flames. Crews initiated an aggressive fire attack and successfully contained the fire, preventing it from spreading to nearby outbuildings.

Unfortunately, the home was a total loss. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

We would like to thank Pine Hill Fire Department for their mutual aid assistance. Oneida Fire Department was placed on standby but was later canceled

We also appreciate the assistance provided by the Scott County Sheriff's Department at the scene.

All personnel cleared the scene and returned to service at approximately 14:17

On Saturday, July 18, 2026, at approximately 11:50 a.m., Paint Rock Fire was dispatched to the intersection of Paint Rock Rd and Mine Rock Rd for a reported single-vehicle accident Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

At approximately 1:35 a.m.Paint Rock Fire was dispatched to the area of 660 Honeycutt Road for a report of a tree on a power line.

Brush 1 responded to the scene. Upon arrival, fire personnel met with Plateau Electric, who removed the tree limb from the power line and restored power to the affected area.

Brush 1 returned to service at approximately
2:10 a.m.

07/07/2026

At approximately 11:53 am Paint Rock Fire was dispatched to the 1500 block of Paint Rock Rd for a single motorcycle accident with the motorcycle reported to be over an embankment.

803 responded to the scene. Upon arrival, the patient was already receiving care by EMS personnel. Fire personnel assisted the Sheriff's Office with traffic control until the scene was cleared.

One individual was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
