On Friday, June 5, the Hercules Senior Center hosted its annual Membership Drive in partnership with the Friends of the Hercules Senior Center (FHSC). The event was a fun-filled afternoon of food, good company, and presentations. 100+ membership registrations were renewed during the event.

We'd like to thank FHSC for generously providing lunch, which included pizza, green salad, cookies, and refreshments. Following lunch, attendees enjoyed a variety of presentations and activities. FHSC shared updates on board elections, voting, and introduced the HundredX program.

Special guests included Alison and Natalie from the library, local small business owner Rica, and Seana Field from Community Development, provided information on the City of Hercules Housing Survey. The event concluded with an exciting raffle prize giveaways. Overall, the event was well received, and attendees expressed how much they enjoyed the opportunity to reconnect with friends, learn about community resources, and celebrate another successful year of membership at the Hercules Senior Center.

Lots of pre-Mother’s Day celebrations/events this week in our Preschool and RAP programs. For example, today in Tiny Tots, the kids sang a couple songs for the moms, grandmas, aunties, etc. The kids and parents painted on canvas', and wrapped up the celebration by releasing butterflies after raising them from egg to butterfly. Overall, it was a wonderful celebration!

In recognition of National Volunteer Month, the Hercules Parks & Rec staff would like to recognize all the amazing volunteers that play a role in the success of the city, especially in our department. We simply could not do what we do without the assistance from so many wonderful people willing to give their time and effort in a myriad of ways. To show our appreciation we provided wellness packs that included a special text message, water, electrolytes, and a special volunteer pin. Thank you volunteers! ,
