For the last #ThursdayThoughts of the year.. if you are feeling hopeless and you can't get out of your situation, with some education and determination, all things are possible. I hope you all have had an amazing 2018... and may the journey continue for all of you on a positive path in 2019!!! Pay Away The Layaway | Military Benefits

Something I have done since 2013 is to pay off layaways for military families for Christmas. I would walk into stores that have layaways (Walmart, K-mart) etc and ask for layaways of families showing military ID's and pay as many as my budget would allow. Now you can do it through a non-profit called Pay Away The Layaway. Check out their page, or if you feel better to do it yourself, I urge you to do it. You have no idea what this means to a family who defends our freedom and does not have to worry about Christmas for their family. https://militarybenefits.info/pay-away-the-layaway/

Military Benefits is proud to have partnered with Pay Away The Layaway to support military families by paying off their balances at the Exchanges and retail stores.

2 Days To Go to Election Day - Why Vote for William "Bill" J McKenna - Work - Being on council is more than just attending Public sessions, work sessions and ribbon cuttings, its doing doing research and asking for input from residents regarding issues. This includes working hard this summer to get get public and business input regarding the HPRB guidelines included with the RFP that was passed by the Town Council, speaking to the 10 largest brewers in Virginia regarding an ordinance sent to the Planning Commission and Council from the public regarding increasing brewing capacity in town, working to keep the Fairfax Connector Reston-Herndon Operating Facility in Herndon ($14 million renovation) and helping us change routes to meet student and resident needs in town, or asking questions during a work session we had after our budget vote that went 5-1. I asked why we wanted to raise the meals tax and for what purpose and what would the delta (difference) was regarding that raising of taxes and why. I have included work session minutes and you can see on Page 13 the discussion we had. In my work and my approach I have been transparent and open and allow anyone to ask questions and have never blocked someone from my social feeds because I am a believer in the 1st amendment and more importantly, I believe that everyone has a voice and my job is to be the steward of that voice and to work hard with other council members to make sure those voices are heard. I am asking for your vote on November 6!

5 Days To Go to Election Day - Why Vote for William "Bill" J McKenna (and Thursday Thought)- Optimism - Anyone who knows me knows I am an optimist... whether it be on an athletic field with team mates or when a family or friend is given a diagnosis that can be scary, I truly believe in the power of positivity and working towards a solution vs exacerbating a problem. Optimism can make amazing things happen. Please watch this video of a World War II Veteran and his quest to run across the country. Optimism and drive like this is infectious and its what makes the United States and the Town of Herndon so special and unique. Please like and share with your friends if you believe in this as much as I do.

Bill McKenna Councilmember Herndon, VA | Videos About Bill

10 Days To Go to Election Day - Why Vote for William "Bill" J McKenna – Track Record - I am the only candidate in this election that served 20 years ago (I was 24). In that time, I worked with everyone on council in a bi-partisan manner to get things done. 20 years later, doing the work is something I have continued to do. I have included a link to my videos page and at the bottom you can see a 2 part video when I did a statewide program Meet The Leaders (2001) in which I talk about my journey to elected office at 24 and working with the Mayor and Council regardless of party to get things done.

How two bitter enemies became friends

12 Days To Go to Election Day - Why Vote for William "Bill" J McKenna – Reconciliation / Forgiveness / Owning Your Life – Regardless of the outcome of this election, I am willing to work with anyone elected on council and if I am not elected, willing to help in any way I can, because the Town of Herndon is more important than my own ego. I ask that you watch this brief "On The Road" from CBS news about the power of communicating between a police officer and a life long criminal.
