God’s word promises us that He is always present in our lives. You are invited to connect with God through scripture today.

Read – Romans 8:38-39

Ponder – Have you ever really stopped to consider that no matter what God loves you and is always with you? No mistake – past, present, or future, no matter how big or small? There is nothing that you can do to stop God from loving you or anyone. What might you need to forgive yourself or someone else so that God’s love can be glorified?

Pray – Lord, I’m sorry for the times that I forget you love me, that you are always with me and that there is nothing I can do that you can’t redeem. Help me to forgive myself and others of things that hold me back from true connection and relationship. Amen.

Join us for the next message in the "Roomy Faith" series on Sunday at 10 am on Facebook and YouTube.

God’s word promises us that He is always present in our lives; connect with God through scripture today.

Read – Zephaniah 3:17

Ponder – Have you ever pictured God jumping up and down, clapping His hands in excitement for you? Or maybe wrapping you in a blanket of His peace with His love for you? Or even singing as loudly as you do when you are crying out to Him?

Pray – Lord, let me bask in your presence and feel your joy, your peace, and your love. Help me to live the life you intended for your glory alone! Amen.

God’s word promises us that He is always present in our lives; connect with God in scripture today.

Read – Matthew 28:19-20

Ponder – We are called to know God and make Him known. We are called to be and make disciples for the Kingdom. We do that because we believe that Jesus is with us and the Holy Spirit empowers us. How are you living that out today?

Pray – Jesus, you are all that matters. You are the breath in my lungs, the air that I breathe. Help me to live that out for your glory and your Kingdom. Amen.

Lawrence's message on Sunday spoke to connecting with God in the midst of the “clean” and “messy” areas of our lives as well as the spaces in our homes. You are invited to connect with God in scripture. God’s word promises us that He is always present in our lives.

Read – Isaiah 41:10

Ponder – Fear can keep us from trusting the Lord. Fear can make us think we are in control and spinning out of it. What fear is holding you back from trusting the Lord? What is out of your control that you can let go of and let God have?

Pray – Lord, search my heart for what is holding me captive to control. Help me to connect more deeply to you and trust you with all my fears. Amen.

Yesterday, Lawrence preached about connecting with God in the midst of the “clean” and “messy” areas of our lives as well as the spaces in our homes. As we all adjust to life in this new season, you are invited to connect with God in scripture. God’s word promises us that He is always present in our lives.

Read – Joshua 1:9

Ponder – We may not be going many places right now, but I think the point Joshua is making is that God is always with us. Where do you feel the presence of God the most? How has that changed during this season? How might you be more intentional about connecting with God?

Pray – Lord, I know you are with me even when I can’t feel your presence. Help me to be more intentional about connecting with you and others. Amen

On Sunday, Jonathan invited us to think about ways that God shows His love by feeding us as we gather in our kitchens and dining rooms. Now, you are invited to expand on that and read scripture before a daily meal.

Read. Exodus 16:4-8

Ponder. Do you ever complain to get what you want? How did that work out for you? Do you complain about not liking something or not having enough? How does God respond to that?

Pray. Heavenly Father, we’re sorry when we complain instead of being grateful. Help us to see that you are fulfilling our every need and show us where we might be of service to you in fulfilling other's needs. Amen

Consider journaling as you journey this week.

Read. Psalms 104:13-15

Ponder. What’s the weather like today? Is it sunny or rainy, breezy, warm? Think back to the last time it was raining and gloomy. How did it affect your mood? Did you ever think about how the rain is needed to grow food for our bodies, the same way we need God for soul food?

Pray. Heavenly Father, we thank you for always providing for our needs. Help us to remember that even though gloomy and rainy days you are working all things for our good. Amen

Consider journaling as you journey this week.

Read. Luke 12:22-31

Ponder. What is Jesus speaking to you in these verses? How can you lean into that today?

Pray. Heavenly Father, thank you for these words today. Thank you for all you give us that feed our bodies and souls. Help us to know and trust you better and to remember that you are all we need. Amen

Consider journaling as you journey this week.

On Sunday, Jonathan preached about “God at the Table” and invited us to think about ways that God shows His love by feeding us as we gather in our kitchens and dining rooms. Now, you are invited to expand on that and read scripture before a daily meal.

Read. Job 36:26-33

Ponder. Even though Job is experiencing difficult times, he recognizes that God uses the same water that causes floods and storms to bring life through nourishing food and animals to give in abundance. Where have you experienced an abundance of God’s provisions in a storm?

Pray. Heavenly Father, we may feel out of control and in the middle of a storm right now, but we trust that you are in control. Help us to see the abundant ways that you are still feeding us. Amen.

Consider journaling as you journey this week.

On Sunday, Jonathan preached about “God at the Table” and invited us to think about ways that God shows His love by feeding us as we gather in our kitchens and dining rooms. This week you are invited to expand on that and read scripture before a daily meal. Gather with your family and take turns reading and sharing each day or dive into the scripture with God on your own. Consider journaling as you journey this week.

Read. Deuteronomy 10:12-18

Ponder. How do you hear God showing His love for His people? How might we be able to do the same?

Pray.
Heavenly Father, we know that you are the Lord of all and we thank you for the ways you feed us physically and spiritually. Help us to hear your word and apply it to how we are called to live. Amen

A devotion for our sermon series written by Sheri Fairchild:
During this series, we will be discussing ways that God shows up in unexpected ways yet in our very familiar spaces! So, pick a familiar and comfy spot and think, ponder and pray!
When was the last time you were really surprised? Do you remember what it felt like? Where you were? Did you cry, or even laugh? Did it take your breath away or make your heart race?

The last time I was really surprised was when my youngest son came home from college unannounced for my birthday when I thought I wouldn’t get to see him before leaving the country for 3 weeks! I remember it clearly! I had just finished cleaning the house and I retreated to my bedroom to collapse on my bed! My happy place – I love my bed. It is super relaxing and I was exhausted. The door wasn't all the way closed and out of the corner of my eye, a shadow started to fill the space the cracked door left exposed. I looked up and there he was! And guess, what? All the above happened. I cried, I laughed and my heart raced at the sight of him. And that wasn’t the end of it. A simple family dinner turned into a surprise birthday dinner. As you can guess, I cried, laughed and my heart raced again!

There are surprises in scripture as well. When I think about it, it makes me think of how the appearance of angels is followed by “do not be afraid”! (Luke 1:11-14, Luke 1 28:30, Luke 2:8-11).

Surprises knock us off-center and sometimes unsettle us. They wake us up and make us take notice. The same way that we can be surprised when God shows up in unexpected ways. I think He does this on purpose and He’s telling us “do not be afraid”! He’s instead inviting us to take notice and pay attention because He’s telling us “I’m up to something here”!
This week, I invite you to take notice of the times when God shows up! Pick a spot. Get comfy. Sit. Ponder. Pray. Where did God unexpectedly show up in your familiar space today and surprise you? Keep a journal and write it down and then thank Him! Praise Him for reminding you that He is always with you!

More about Roomy Faith:

In this season where we are being asked to stay in place, it may feel (and be!) like we don’t have enough room. We’re confined to a single place and asked to make the most out of an otherwise untenable situation. What would it look like, as an Easter people, if we believe that God is showing up in the spaces we are most familiar with: the rooms of our homes? Over the Easter season, we’ll think about some of the different rooms of a home -- the bedroom, kitchen, office, and living room to name a few. We’ll share stories of how God has shown up in those spaces in the Scriptures. And we’ll think about how God is asking us to tell stories of God’s love from those places, even in times like these. Perhaps as we do this, we’ll discover more of Jacob’s vision of God in Genesis 28: “Jacob woke up from his sleep. He said, ‘God is in this place—truly. And I didn’t even know it!” He was terrified. He whispered in awe, “Incredible. Wonderful. Holy. This is God’s House. This is the Gate of Heaven.’” (Genesis 28:16-17, MSG)

I have been looking for a way to share some of my talents with my fellow Herndon Church members (and anyone else who is interested) and maybe this is a good platform to use. I have recently posted a video of simple exercises to maintain and improve the health of your lungs. These exercises are particularly important during the fall and the cold and flu seasons, but persons with lung problems can do them year round, which is what I do. Here is the link to the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HBwfCeNStGU&t=58s. Best wishes for good health, Roger Blough.
Still looking for a few more volunteers for ushering for the Connection Service! message me if interested!! :)
