About Pradip and his priorities:
I came to this land of opportunity in 2006 as a graduate student. I was born and raised in Nepal. After graduating with Masters of Science in Strategic Leadership, I started my professional career, first in Healthcare Industry and then Financial and secondary mortgage Industry (as an Information Technology Professional). I worked in Freddie Mac as an IT consultant for two years and then worked in Capital One Headquarter as an IT expert supporting different projects.
Then I started working on Life Insurance Industry serving people on their life insurance and retirement needs. This really helped me find my passion as I enjoyed being around people, educating people and helping people.
Serving as a life insurance and retirement professional, I interacted and built relationship with many people. That really fueled my urge to be around people and serve them.
I am an advocate of entrepreneurship as I strongly believe we can create more opportunities, bring financial independence, and prosperity by being an entrepreneur. I also believe entrepreneurship is not about just investing in a business but more about having the right mindset, skill sets and knowledge. I will play a role in establishing entrepreneurship forum in the Town of Herndon so that we can discuss ideas, innovations and strategies in a weekly, if not monthly, manner.
Public Safety: Through collaboration with Herndon police and Fire Department, security camera installation and community policing.
Health and awareness: Through promoting walking, using our parks and recreation areas, trails for walking by increasing good health and decreasing the level of stress. We need more play grounds to support sports.
Business, Revenue and Tax: Herndon is uniquely positioned as the silver line metro is approaching and more employers are moving to Northern Virginia expanding their business. Herndon can help more people to open more businesses there by collecting more revenues. Increasing town's revenue and balancing tax can make our town a modal town. Also, controlling budget leakages can help reallocate the existing budget to more important tasks.
Supporting a better downtown development: As the influx of people moving into Herndon is on the rise, it's time to prepare ourselves to host more residents and more businesses. Construction and development is a must to position ourselves into this opportunity. At the same time, preserving the essence of small and historic town is equally important.
Alternative energy management: Solar stations and electric vehicle charging station not only help us to set for new trend but it also helps to protect our environment.
Inclusiveness: The beauty and strength of Herndon is the diversity in terms of Race, culture, languages spoken, age, and nationalities. Herndon has welcomed me as a first generation immigrant to this great land of opportunity. We will maintain or even strengthen our inclusiveness in every aspect of this great town.
Cultural programs: By hosting more cultural programs, we will not only advocate inclusiveness but we will empower different communities. I strongly advocate to host more programs targeting and empowering more ethnic groups.
Supporting entrepreneurial activities: I am a big advocate of entrepreneurship. Ideas need to be discussed and implemented in order for them to become a reality. I would form a "Entrepreneurship Forum" where new and innovative ideas can get a platform to be shared and discussed. Town of Herndon can play a role facilitator to help people learn the mindset, skill sets and knowledge of entrepreneurship. This way we can make our town a wealthy town by helping and empowering our residents.
