Today, we got a special visit from Elizabeth, the Store Manager at Whataburger in Hickory, who stopped by and brought our officers some amazing food!

It was great getting to know Elizabeth and spending a little time talking with her. Gestures like this may seem simple, but they mean a lot to those of us serving our community every day.

We are incredibly thankful for Elizabeth, Whataburger, and the wonderful community that continues to support our officers.

We’ve seen all the comments asking when we’d be back, and we’re excited to say… we’re coming back!

𝗛𝗢𝗟𝗦𝗖𝗟𝗔𝗪 𝗛𝗢𝗠𝗜𝗖𝗜𝗗𝗘 𝗜𝗡𝗩𝗘𝗦𝗧𝗜𝗚𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗨𝗣𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗘

A few hours ago, Joshua Ray Begley was taken into custody by law enforcement and is now in custody in connection with the homicide investigation involving Claude Wayne Holsclaw (“Doc”).

At this time, we are unable to release additional details regarding the investigation. As more information becomes available and can be released without compromising the ongoing prosecution, we will provide further updates in the coming days.

This arrest is the result of countless hours of dedicated investigative work and outstanding cooperation among multiple law enforcement agencies. The Brookford Police Department extends its sincere appreciation to everyone who submitted tips, shared information, and supported this investigation. Your assistance has been invaluable.

Chief Will Armstrong would like to extend a special thank you to the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation for its unwavering commitment, professionalism, and exceptional partnership throughout this investigation. The expertise, resources, and tireless efforts of the SBI have been instrumental in advancing this case and bringing it to this point.

The Brookford Police Department also extends its sincere gratitude to the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office for their valuable help and professionalism, along with every local, state, first responder, and support personnel who assisted throughout this investigation and bringing this subject to justice. This case is a testament to what can be accomplished when agencies decide to work together with a shared commitment to justice.

We also ask that everyone continue to keep the Holsclaw family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

𝗕𝗥𝗢𝗢𝗞𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗗, 𝗡.𝗖. – 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝟮𝟱, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 – The Brookford Police Department has obtained arrest warrants for Joshua Ray Begley, 34, of Brookford, North Carolina, in connection with the homicide investigation of Claude Wayne Holsclaw (“Doc”).

𝗝𝗼𝘀𝗵𝘂𝗮 𝗥𝗮𝘆 𝗕𝗲𝗴𝗹𝗲𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲𝘀:

• Murder
• Concealment of Death
• Possession of a Firearm by a Felon During the Commission or Attempted Commission of a Felony

The Brookford Police Department, in partnership with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation and assisting agencies, is actively working to locate Begley.

The Brookford Police Department would like to provide our community with an update regarding the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of Claude Wayne Holsclaw (“Doc”).

Chief Will Armstrong released the following statement:

“As Chief of Police, I want our community to know that this investigation has my full attention. We understand how important this case is to Mr. Holsclaw’s loved ones and to our community. Since this report was received, the Brookford Police Department has been working around the clock to pursue every credible lead, coordinate with our law enforcement partners, and do everything within our lawful authority to find answers. That commitment remains unwavering.

This investigation remains active. While there are details we cannot release publicly in order to protect the integrity of the investigation, I want to assure our community that we continue to actively follow leads, conduct interviews, review information, and dedicate every available resource necessary to move this investigation forward.

Our thoughts remain with Mr. Holsclaw’s family and everyone who knows and cares about him. We recognize the uncertainty they are facing, and they have our commitment that we will continue working diligently in pursuit of answers.

I also want to thank our community for the tremendous support you’ve shown throughout this investigation. Every phone call, tip, and piece of information is appreciated and is carefully evaluated by investigators.

If you have any information regarding the whereabouts of Claude Wayne Holsclaw (“Doc”), no matter how insignificant you believe it may be, please contact the Brookford Police Department immediately. The smallest detail could make a significant difference in this investigation.”
