Important Notice for HVLA Residents-
CalFire is currently conducting Fire Mitigation Defensible Space Inspections on all developed properties within Hidden Valley Lake.
Please note: these inspections are not scheduled or conducted by HVLA’s Environmental Control Department. Our EC Department completed their community-wide inspections during the first week of July.
These current inspections are being done solely by CalFire personnel as part of their statewide fire prevention efforts. CalFire periodically selects communities for these inspections, and this year, HVL is on their list. They will be in the community for several weeks, or possibly a couple of months, completing this process.
A primary focus is the Zero to 5 Feet Defensible Space Zone, which refers to the area immediately surrounding all buildings, including homes, sheds, and other structures. Starting January 2026, maintaining a clear, debris-free zone in this area will become state law.
This initiative is both educational and preventative, helping residents prepare for upcoming regulations and potentially aiding in maintaining property insurance and fire protection coverage.
Thank you for your cooperation as we work together to keep our community safe.
