As we hit the middle of summer, life keeps everyone busy with family get-togethers, vacations, county fairs, and making memories. But no matter where life takes us, when the pager goes off, we're ready to answer the call.

July was another steady month for the Hillsboro Area Fire Department, and we want to thank our dedicated members and their families for their continued commitment and sacrifice. Your support allows us to serve our community whenever we're needed.

As we turn the page to August, we remain ready 24/7 to protect and serve the citizens of our community.

The 2026 Rural Disaster Training held in La Crosse, WI this past Saturday was a success. Thank you to Assistant Chief Joe Pfaff and the crew for allowing us to join them. It was an great opportunity to train and learn alongside numerous area fire departments and EMS crews.

Congratulations! Police, now Emts, only one more step up to becoming the real heroes! Maybe one day they will the become firefighters! All jokes aside, Congratulations Officers Kiel & Nachtigal!

Earlier this spring Officers Kiel and Nachtigal completed the bridge course from EMR to EMT through Western Technical College. They then went on to complete the National Registry as Emergency Medical Technicians-Basic and are now credentialed with Hillsboro Area Ambulance Service. We are proud of both officers for taking the initiative to better serve our community!

As we celebrate our nation’s 250th Independence Day, our team wants to ensure everyone stays safe while enjoying the festivities, barbecues, and fireworks.

If you are planning your own celebrations, please remember to:
~Keep children and pets a safe distance from fireworks and grills.

~Always have a bucket of water or a hose nearby.

~Never try to re-light or pick up fireworks that did not go off properly (duds). 🚫💥

~Leave the large fireworks displays to the professionals!

This past month kept us moving steadily here at the department, balancing emergency responses with community fun and critical safety training.
On the emergency side- our team answered the calls for a variety of incidents, including a UTV accident, an ATV fire, a motor vehicle accident (MVA), a gas leak, and smoke alarm checks. We also gathered for our standard monthly meeting to keep our operations running smoothly.
June wasn't just about emergency responses—it was also about connecting with our neighbors! We had a great time selling refreshments at the H.O.P.E Walk (HOPE - Helping Our People Everyday) at Hillsboro Firemen's Memorial Park. We also hit the road, taking Brush 2 out to see everyone at the Reedsburg Butterfest Parade. To top off a busy month, we hosted our neighbors- Ontario Fire and Rescue for a highly valuable joint house burn training. Working alongside neighboring departments keeps us all sharp and ready to serve you better!
