✨ What a fun night at the Annual Designer Purse Bingo! 👜🎉 There’s nothing better than spending time with friends, family, and coworkers while enjoying a little friendly competition and lots of laughs! ❤️

Even better, this event directly benefits CASA, helping provide support, advocacy, and brighter futures for children in our community. 💙 Knowing we’re having a great time while giving back to such an important cause makes the evening even more special!

📋✨ Open Enrollment means getting to spend time with our County employees, answer questions, and make sure everyone is prepared for the year ahead.

Today I had the pleasure of seeing our Road & Bridge crews! 🚜🦺 These guys work hard for our County every day, and it’s always good to see them and catch up.

But the best part? 😂 Walking in and seeing this guy wearing “Walking, talking..HR Nightmare” printed across his shirt! Absolutely priceless.

A little paperwork, a lot of great employees, and plenty of laughs—that’s a pretty good day at the office. ❤️

Staying Informed for Our Employees & Retirees

I recently attended the TCDRS conference in Austin to stay informed and up to date on our county’s retirement system and the resources available to our employees and retirees. Continuing education helps me better understand the latest changes, benefits, and retirement options so I can assist our employees in planning for their future and help our retirees navigate the system with confidence. Serving our employees doesn’t stop at retirement—it’s important that they have someone knowledgeable they can turn to throughout every stage of their retirement journey. ✨

✨There is something so special about a box of crayons, a handful of markers, or a fresh pack of pencils in the hands of a child. They become tools for imagination, hope, and healing.🫶🏻

If you’re able, consider donating school supplies to CASA. Your simple gift can brighten a child’s day and remind them they are loved, valued, and never alone.

In small communities, we have the beautiful opportunity to wrap our arms around our children and lift one another up. It’s the kindness we share and the love we give that make our community such a special place to call home. 💙

☕️📚 Continuing education is one of the best investments we can make.

I recently attended the Texas Association of Counties County Investment Academy in Georgetown, Texas, gaining valuable insight into public fund investing, cybersecurity, cash management, economic trends, and PFIA compliance.

Staying informed on best practices helps ensure Hill County’s funds are managed responsibly, transparently, and with the care our taxpayers deserve.

Grateful for the opportunity to continue learning and bringing that knowledge back to better serve Hill County.

Mothers Day Weekend

✨Today we built 21 beds from start to finish — sanding, dipping, drilling, and branding each one with care. The entire process was incredible, but the most meaningful part was knowing these beds will help children get off the floor and into a place of comfort and security. It’s hard to put into words what that feels like, but being part of something that truly changes lives is indescribable. 🛏️❤️

✨The Treasurers office staff was proud to attend and support the Hillsboro Library at their Pancakes for Patrons event. It was a wonderful way for them to spend time in the community and show their appreciation for a place that offers so much to residents of all ages. Events like this highlight the importance of staying connected and supporting the organizations that help our community thrive. 📚

The Spring CTAT Treasurers Conference was a meaningful reminder of the power of purpose-driven leadership. Centered on the theme “Connecting Deeply, Leading Boldly,” the conference brought together leaders committed to strengthening relationships, sharing knowledge, and growing in their roles.

It was an opportunity to engage in thoughtful conversations, gain valuable insights, and be inspired to lead with both confidence and heart. We also had a wonderful presentation by Dean of the Texas Senate, Judith Zaffirini on how to effectively navigate hearings with the Senate. ✨

April, recognized as Child Abuse Prevention Month, has provided meaningful opportunities to reflect and engage. Attending two CASA events this month—CASA Blue Day at the courthouse and Pancakes at Hill Regional Hospital—reinforced the importance of advocacy and community awareness. Each event, in its own way, highlighted the impact of showing up and supporting children who need a voice. It’s through continued involvement and shared responsibility that we can help ensure every child is seen, heard, and supported. 💙🦋

The Hill County Data Center Summit was an incredibly informative experience, especially from a financial and tax perspective. It provided valuable insight into how large-scale projects like data centers can impact local tax structures, property valuation, and long-term economic planning within Hill County. Learning about infrastructure investment and how these developments are assessed for tax purposes helps connect the operational goals with county/city financial considerations.

I want to note that I do not make any decisions in this capacity, but am simply being informed and doing my due diligence. Overall, it was a great opportunity to better understand how technology growth and local government finance intersect in Hill County.
