The May 26th Democratic Runoff has ended, and while Texas runoffs are historically low-turnout elections, this one was especially disappointing. In March, Democrats across Texas delivered 2,203,671 votes in the Primary — a powerful surge of energy and hope. But in this runoff, only 552,678 voters participated.
What happened to the momentum we built in March? Where did that fire go?
If we are serious about shaping the future of Texas and America, we cannot afford to sit out elections — any elections. The stakes in November could not be higher, and Democrats must show up in full force.
Now is the time to unite behind our Democratic nominees — every single one of them. We must stand with and support:
• James Talarico for U.S. Senate
• Gina Hinojosa for Governor
• Vikki Goodwin for Lieutenant Governor
• Nathan Johnson for Attorney General
• Sarah Eckhardt for Comptroller
• Benjamin Flores for General Land Commissioner
• Clayton Tucker for Agriculture Commissioner
• Jon Rosenthal for Railroad Commissioner
• Maggie Ellis for Chief Justice, Supreme Court
• Chari Kelly for Justice, Supreme Court
• Kristen Hawkins for Justice, Supreme Court, Place 7
• Gisela Triana for Justice, Supreme Court, Place 8
• Okey Anyiam for Judge, Court of Criminal Appeals, Place 3
• Audra Riley for Judge, Court of Criminal Appeals, Place 4
• Holly Taylor for Judge, Court of Criminal Appeals, Place 9
• Amy Taylor for State Board of Education, District 14
• Casey Shepard for U.S. Congress, District 17
• Amy Martinez-Salas for State Senate, District 22
• Albert Hunter for Texas House, District 13
These are our nominees. This is our ticket. This is our moment.
Talk with your family, your friends, your neighbors, your coworkers. Every conversation matters. Every vote matters. Every election matters.
If we want to take Texas back — if we want to take America back — then November is where we prove it.
