🚗💜 Transportation is Maternal Health!

Access to safe, reliable transportation should never be a barrier to receiving quality maternal healthcare.

As we approach the upcoming midterm elections, Region 9 Perinatal Quality Collaborative is encouraging community members to raise awareness about the transportation challenges pregnant and postpartum families face across our region.

📣 We’ve made it easy for you to take action!

We've prepared a pre-written transportation awareness letter that you can send to candidates running for office in your community, regardless of political affiliation.

Our goal is to ensure that future decision-makers understand how transportation barriers impact access to prenatal care, postpartum appointments, and other essential maternal health services.

✉️ Your voice matters! We encourage you to use our letter to advocate for improved transportation access and keep maternal health at the forefront of community conversations.

📍 Merchant Building - Lenawee County Fair and
Event Grounds

More than 40 local agencies will be available to help
connect individuals and families with resources for
housing, utilities, employment, health care, legal aid,
education, family services and more.
Attendees can also receive free services, including a
hot meal, food boxes, haircuts and vaccines.

For pregnant and postpartum families, getting to care isn’t always as simple as making an appointment. Long travel distances, limited public transportation, unreliable vehicles, and shrinking access to maternity care can create real barriers to receiving timely care.

Our Transportation is Maternal Health video explores how transportation impacts families across Region 9 and why improving maternal health means thinking beyond the walls of the hospital.

By listening to our communities and working across healthcare, transportation, and community organizations, we can build solutions that help families access the care they need, no matter where they call home. 💜
