Hammond Firefighters Local 556
Update: Animal Control will be housing the Dog. If anyone finds the owners, please have them contact Hammond Animal Control.
Thank you all for trying to help find the owners. What a fantastic response.
Unfortunately due mostly to Liability we are not set up to house animals. Not only do we respond to calls for long periods, but also frequently have walk-in patients. On a positive note: if noone claims the dog, you may be able to adopt her. We can tell you she's friendly and she loves pepper steak and rice.

Our crews are currently working a fire in a home close to 61st Ave. Occupants were alerted by working smoke detectors, and made it out safely. Merrillville Fire is assisting us. Now is a good time to check your smoke detectors, and make sure they are in working order.

District 5 Councilman Chris Wells
With much help from the owners Jim and Angie, and manager Kevin Sims. This week we had a successful bowling ball raffle where the winner Rhiannon will get to choose any ball of her choice from Above All Bowling @ Hobart Lanes.
But, the important part, the Hobart Fire Department raised $826 in this raffle and will be donating it to the Hobart Food Pantry.
We still have 4 active raffles for our date night specials. You can enter to win 2 tickets to a concert and a $20 gift card to a downtown Hobart Restaurant. See attached pictures.
Payments can be made through PayPal or Apple Pay and we will fill out tickets for you.

We are very sorry to write this update, but with the new restrictions being put in place from the governor, we have decided that we have to postpone the bowling event this weekend. We will be hosting this again somewhere down the road when the occupancy restrictions are lifted. Councilman Christopher Wells is still doing a raffle for baskets and items that were donated. Please check that out so we can all still help the food pantry before this holiday season.

The Hobart Fire Department and Union Local 1641 is doing a bowling fundraiser to help fill the Hobart food pantry for Thanksgiving. The bowling event is this Saturday registration starts at noon with bowling from 1-3. $20 a bowler for all you can bowl in the 2 hours shoes included. The firefighters....

MAAC Foundation
Congratulations to all students who completed their National Car Seat Safety certifications last week! This class is an intense 4 days with an actual community car seat event to finalize the course. This course was held by Indiana District 1 Firefighter Training Council, Automotive Safety Program and the National Child Passenger Safety Board. Thank you to Hobart Fire Department for hosting the community car seat event!

We want to thank the city administration and fire chief on replacing two more vacancies. This is a great step in the right direction.
Please help us welcome our newest firefighters! Filling two open positions are Bryan Sons & Gage Philp. Bryan joins us after spending the last 7+ years as a firefighter in the City of Gary. Gage comes to HFD after serving the City of East Chicago as a firefighter for the past 2 years. Welcome to Hobart, gentlemen!

We were visited tonight by candidate for Congress, Frank Mrvan. He spoke with us on several topics and pledged to continue the working relationship we had with retiring congressman Pete Visclosky. Frank will hopefully represent the 1st congressional district which includes all of Lake and Porter County, with a part of Laporte County. Please remember him November 3.

The Hobart Fire Department is raising funds to purchase and install a Safe Haven Baby Box. It is very much needed in this area.

to raise money for a Safe Haven Baby Box to be installed in a Hobart Fire Station. We already
