I would like to thank KY Adult Education and The Welding Institute of Bardstown for their partnership in helping inmates break the cycle of recidivism. LaRue County Detention Center was allotted 2 seats in the class. Today we had two inmates graduate with a certificate in MIG welding and shop skills. This puts them in a position for a successful career once they are released. I am very proud inmates L. Taylor and A. Brooks. According to the instructors they were "like sponges" and eager to learn. Moments like this make what we do here at the LaRue County Detention Center worth it; seeing these two accomplish something that could have a huge positive affect to their lives means everything. Good job guys, I am very proud of you.

In recognition of National Corrections Officer week, I would to thank everyone that has ever taken or is currently taking on the responsibility of ensuring the public safety by becoming a Deputy Jailer. Long hours, low pay, no respect, and crazy shifts are the norm. The work you do is vital to the safety of the public and I say thank you and God Bless you.

As we promised long ago, we would do random drug searches in our facility. We are so thankful to be able to Partner with the Hodgenville Police Department and benefit from the sharing of resources. Glad to report nothing found this trip. That is a good thing, our efforts to stifle dangerous contraband from our facility are paying off. Huge shout to Officers Riley and Nitro, both of them are Rock Stars.

I just wanted to take a moment and recognize some of the dedicated hardworking individuals who are the backbone of our operations here at the LaRue County Detention Center. We had a swearing in ceremony today for all the LCDC Deputies who are out of the probationary period. 13 of them were given the Kentucky Constitutional Oath of Office for Deputy Jailer. I am proud of each and every one of them and the progress they have shown. I want the community to we strive every day to make The LaRue County Detention Center place we can be proud of.

One more service we provide in our efforts to keep our community safe and combat jail overcrowding is HIP (Home Incarceration Program) & GPS monitoring. With these monitors we know if someone goes somewhere they are court ordered not to be. Or leaves where they are court ordered to be. It s also a small source of revenue for the jail and lessens the financial burden of the jail to LaRue County's citizens.
