It's election day folks, everyone get out and vote. Let's make some positive changes for Larue county.

One thing is becoming increasingly clear from traveling around the county talking to the voters. We need more sheriff department presence out in the county. We also need more speed limit signs posted on our county roads so law enforcement personnel can write citations that will stand up in court and make our residential areas safer. Regardless of who gets elected in the Sheriff and Judge Executive races, this needs to be addressed as soon as possible for the safety of our residents.

As we go through our daily lives sometimes we forget to be thankful for the gifts that we have been given. As I was sitting down for lunch today I had the pleasure of meeting a very nice young man, today is his 28th birthday. After he announced that, I asked him what his plans were for the day. He told me that he had taken half the day off work and he was going to have dinner with his mother this evening. That struck me as being one of the most unsefish ways a man his age could spend his birthday, spending time with the woman who gave him life. I left him with a piece of advice that my father gave to me,. Just because you tied your shoes on this morning there is no guarantee that you will be the one taking them off so live your life to the fullest every day and enjoy every moment of it. I paid for his lunch and walked away, hopefully he will remember the words that an old guy told him and live a very long and happy life. I never asked his name but I sincerely hope he has the best birthday that he has ever had and pays the meal and advice forward someday.

Time for reflection and appreciation. I sat on my front porch with my morning coffee this morning about 5:30 and listened to the owls hooting and roosters crowing. In the distance I heard a turkey gobble a couple of times and I thought about the day that the Lord is giving us. Too often we rush through life trying to anass or fortunes and belongings without regard for the amazing world around us and what the price of progress really is in the long run. So before you get too excited about the prospect of industrial development in our county do yourself a favor and get away from town , find a quiet spot and enjoy a predawn cup of coffee while you listen to the world around you. There is no stopping the eventual growth of industry in Larue county, but if we take our time and grow slowly it will give us more time to enjoy the wonders around us while we have them.

This wind is driving me nuts, I'm spending more time fixing my signs than I am talking to people. Hopefully this will get out of here for a while soon so I can concentrate on speaking to the voters in person. I skipped the Expo because i would rather speak to people in more of a one on one basis.im a non crowded environment. I will be out and about pretty much every day knocking on doors somewhere in the county and I'm not afraid of the weather so don't be surprised if I knock on your door if it's freezing or windy.

I was drinking my coffee this morning and looking out the window at the fog, I started thinking about the voters that are looking at the candidates running for the Judge Executive position. When the light gets through and everything begins to become clear, I think it will become obvious who is a real Republican and who is just talking a good game to get your vote. Just remember before they start talking, they were happy to be Democrats until they needed your votes to get the position they are after.

I hope everyone is enjoying weather now, I'll be taking advantage of it myself and getting some work done at my store this weekend in between trips to town. Hopefully I'll see some of the Republican voters while I'm out and about or you can stop by the store and see a would be politician actually work.
