On Friday Night, Members of the Holdrege Volunteer Fire Department participated in the 2026 MCI (Mass Casualty Incident) in Holdrege

Holdrege Firefighters and EMS trained alongside over 100 other first responders from Loomis Volunteer Fire & Rescue, Bertrand Volunteer Fire & Rescue, Funk Rural Fire Department, Phelps Memorial Health Center, and many other area Fire Departments and organizations.

This training was a great experience and included scenarios resulting from a passenger train accident including triage, crush injuries, search and rescue, rope rescue, and extrication.

MCI Planning Committee for all their hard work on this event.

Tonight the H99 EMS Squad in partnership with the Phelps Memorial Health Center Physical Therapy Team and Holdrege High School trained on sports and football injuries in preparation for the upcoming season.

Holdrege EMS will be providing emergency medical standby for all home football games. We wish all area athletes a fun, safe, and successful season!

Robert Johnston, Dudley Karlson & Lonnie DeJonge attended the Back to School Bash in Funk today. We took our Ambulance over. It was a great time with young kids and their parents. Thanks for the invite!🚑🚨

Our EMS Team had the privilege of providing emergency medical standby for Mutton Bustin and Bull Riding this year at the Phelps County Fair.

In addition, our Firefighters and EMS Crews also provided spectator safety, fire suppression and rescue standby for the annual Demo Derby!

We always enjoy supporting our community and appreciate all your support! It was a great year at the fair!

An EMT Class will be starting this Fall right here close to home! Becoming an EMT is a great way to help your community!

We still have spots available in our Holdrege EMS Class. Classes begin Aug. 19-Dec. 9!

This class will be taught in the convenient, hybrid "flipped classroom" style. Students must complete the online coursework prior to each class meeting. The classroom portion will meet for hands-on skills.

According to the US National Weather Service Hastings Nebraska, A Heat Advisory will be in effect from 10AM to 10PM today. (Monday July 20th)

Highs will be expected to reach the upper 90s to 103 degrees with heat index values as high as 105-110 degrees. The hot and humid conditions can cause heat related illnesses without effective cooling or hydration sources.

☀️Please stay safe and be prepared to recognize the signs of heat stress, heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

🐾 Remember, heat illnesses can also affect your pets and animals so make sure they have shade and water.
