Founded in 1982 by Nadine McCrea and officially named in 2004, Community Enhancement Collaboration, Inc. (CEC) has established itself as a premier community-based organization dedicated to uplifting individuals and families across South Florida. What began as a grassroots initiative in the Washington Park area has grown into a trusted resource serving the broader Greater Hollywood community

In the years, CEC has expanded its outreach to support families, children, seniors, partners, homeless, and faith-based leaders, reflecting our commitment to inclusive and collaborative community engagement. At the heart of our mission is a dedication to community well-being. We work to secure and strengthen neighborhoods by promoting economic growth, enhancing access to essential services, and fostering partnerships that reflect the shared strength of organizations and individuals. CEC remains grounded in its founding values while evolving to meet the needs of a changing community—empowering lives, building resilience, and nurturing hope for a brighter tomorrow.

The Three Bears and the Girls Weekend Trip

Once upon a time, three fun-loving bears—Mama Bear Nadine, Quiet Bear Jackie, and Sweet Bear Linda S.—decided they needed a break from their busy lives. So, they planned a Girls Weekend Trip filled with laughter, relaxation, good food, and unforgettable memories.

Of course, they didn’t travel alone! Driver Alice took the wheel, while Linda, Diane, Patricia, Baby Girl, Ulyses—the brave gentleman of the group—and Diamond, the adorable little dog, joined the adventure.

After a long drive with several stops, the crew finally arrived at their beautiful Airbnb. Diamond was so tired that she immediately curled up and took a nap.

Soon, everyone began checking the rooms.

“This bed is too hard!” said one girl.

“This bed is too soft!” said another.

But Mama Bear Nadine climbed into her bed and said, “This one is just right—and this is my room!”

The next morning, the crew enjoyed a delicious breakfast at Kee’s before spending a relaxing day by the pool. Everyone wore their special Girls Weekend shirts, laughed, took pictures, and celebrated the birthday girl.

Everything was peaceful—until the cake came out!

Quiet Bear Jackie surprised everyone by putting cake on Driver/Birthday Girl Alice’s face. While Mama Bear Nadine was trying to clean up the mess, Jackie turned around and put cake on Nadine’s face too!

“Oh, no—you didn’t!” Mama Bear cried.

Suddenly, cake was flying everywhere! The girls were laughing, running, and hiding. Ulyses quickly ran into the bedroom and locked the door. When he finally let Nadine inside, he raced into the bathroom and locked that door too because he thought she was coming after him with cake!

Even Diamond looked around as if she were wondering, “What kind of bears did I travel with?”

By the end of the night, the three bears and their entire crew were tired but happy. They had eaten good food, relaxed by the pool, celebrated a birthday, met wonderful people along the way, and laughed until their stomachs hurt.

Before going to sleep, Mama Bear Nadine called out:

“Good night, Jackie. Good night, Sweet Bear Linda S. Good night, Driver Alice. Good night, Linda. Good night, Diane. Good night, Patricia. Good night, Baby Girl. Good night, Ulyses—and good night, Diamond!”

Then, from somewhere down the hallway, someone whispered:

“Sleep with your door locked…Jackie might still have some cake!”

And they all lived, laughed, and traveled happily ever after.
