Homewood is currently running extra routes to pick up debris. If you have debris from the storms place all of it at the curb and our own claw trucks will be picking them up. NOTE: any trees cut by contractors must be removed by them, otherwise we will get it. If you need assistance with tree removal dial 2-1-1. More assistance: contact the Red Cross- 800-733-2767

From the VOAD (Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster) meeting this morning:

Those affected by Saturday’s storms, please call 1-800-733-2767 (1-800-RED-CROSS). They have multiple organizations that can help with a variety of issues for citizens who are dealing with the aftermath from the tornados.

You can also call the 2-1-1 number below for help with any tree removal help.

TOMORROW night! 🎅 Welcome Santa into during our Christmas Parade! Starting at 6:30pm from the public library, the parade will then travel east on Oxmoor Road, make a left onto 18th Street South, and pause to light up the Christmas Star.🌟 They will continue with a right onto 29th Avenue, left onto 19th Street, concluding at city hall for the lighting of the Christmas tree! 🎄

Chad was a fun loving person that live life and Alabama Football. A 25 year veteran of the City of Homewood Police/Corrections Department. We love him and will miss him dearly. He was a graduate of University of Alabama in Birmingham. He is leaving behind his wife Tina and their daughter Cecilia. We are asking for donations in lieu of, flowers, or gifts. Any money received will be used for the memorial service and a college fund for his daughter.

The Homewood Police Department is saddened to announce the passing of a loved member of our Police family. Corrections Officer Chad Mumpower went home to go be with his Heavenly Father last night. Chad started his career with the Homewood Police Department in 1998 and was a faithful and dedicated coworker. Chad leaves behind a wife and a daughter, along with his mother and father. Please keep his family and the members of the Homewood Police department in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

We are collecting donations at Homewood City Hall for the Birmingham Warming Station at Boutwell Auditorium through TOMORROW, November 30 at 2:00. At that time we will transport your donations to Boutwell. Leave your donations on the first floor just inside the front doors.

From Mayor Randall Woodfin:
"The City of Birmingham will host a warmth supply drive on Tuesday, Nov. 28 through Thursday, Nov. 30 from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in front of Boutwell Auditorium. There is a critical need for bottled water donations. Volunteers will be accepting: Bottled water Toilet paper Paper towels New or gently-used coats New gloves and winter caps Hand warmers."

"We’ll be at BOUTWELL AUDITORIUM at 7:30 until 4:00 today, Wednesday and Thursday collecting for our shelters and the Warming Station. We need bottled water - toiletries - toilet paper - paper towels - hand warmers - warm clothing for men, women and children (gently used or new) - gloves - scarves - toboggans - twin size washable blankets."

Homewood City Hall will be serving as a satellite donation site through Thursday at 2pm. Items can be placed inside City Hall on the first floor near the guard station, and they will be transported to Boutwell later on Thursday afternoon.

Items needed are:

Bottled water
Toilet paper
Paper towels
New or gently-used coats
New gloves and winter caps
Hand warmers

There is a critical need for bottled water donations.

One week from today! The Christmas Parade! It begins at 6:30pm from the public library. The route will follow Oxmoor Road toward downtown, then left onto 18th St. South. It will pause to light up the Christmas Star & then culminate at city hall to light up the tree!
