We are beyond saddened to hear of Mike Wilson’s passing. Such a tremendous loss. He will forever be a part of Edgewood. Prayers for his family. 💔
Mike Wilson, the legendary Alabama pitmaster and founder of the Saw’s BBQ empire, has passed away. Wilson died “over the weekend,” according to Sam Pittinos, a bartender at Saw’s Juke Joint in Birmingham’s Crestline neighborhood.
Update: Wayne was finally taken back for surgery this morning, and I just got word from Jay Connor (Creamery) that he made it through! 🙌🙏 Wayne’s a tough cookie.
I want to post a quick update on Wayne Harris. I went to visit him briefly this morning (ICU at UAB), and he is conscious but heavily sedated for pain management. He was awake when we were there and could acknowledge us by moving his eyes but he is really groggy. They have not been able to perform surgery yet because his bp is too low as is his blood oxygen level. He is on a ventilator to try to bring that back up. I do not know when they expect to be able to operate. I did let him know that you all are praying and pulling for him so please keep it coming. He has a really long road ahead. Thanks!

Please join me in praying for Wayne Harris, who is the owner of the buildings that house Sam's through Saw's, as he suffered a serious fall from the roof in back of one of the shops and is currently at UAB with at least a broken vertebra in his neck. Not sure of any other injuries, but he had to be resuscitated on the scene.
The parade has been postponed until Wednesday, Dec. 6th!

Just FYI...if you didn't see or hear the sirens, Sam's caught fire for a bit but the HWD fire dept. arrived in a second and quickly got it out. Don't know what the cause was but everyone is safe! Avoid this intersection for a bit if you can because it is blocked off.

We had a lot of fun decorating the tree the other night! Members of the Fowler family came to help climb that really tall ladder! Also, another friend out for a jog was pressed into service, too!
