SANTA AT THE EXCEPTIONAL FOUNDATION
On Monday December 12, 2022 the Homewood Police Department Motor Unit had the pleasure of escorting Santa to the Exceptional Foundation's annual Christmas Celebration. The men and women of the Police Department had a blast celebrating the season with the students and staff at the Foundation. HPD also presented the Foundation with a $1200.00 donation from our Beards for Bucks Campaign.
2022 DEA NATIONAL DRUG TAKE BACK
The Homewood Police Department will be participating in this year's DEA National Drug Take Back. You can bring your unwanted prescription medications to the Homewood Police Department this Saturday, October 29th, between the hours of 10AM and 2 PM and drop them off in the drug drop-off bin.
2022 Peanut Butter Drive
The Homewood Police Department is excited to announce that we will be participating in the 2022 Peanut Butter Drive. We will be collecting jars of peanut butter which will directly benefit the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama. The 2022 goal is to raise 2 tons of peanut butter. You can drop off the jars in our drop box which is located in the Homewood Police Department lobby at 310 West Valley Avenue.
HPD AT ALLSAINTS EPISCOPAL PRESCHOOL
The Homewood Police Department K-9 Unit had the pleasure of speaking to the kids at All Saints Episcopal Preschool this week. Officers talked about safety and the kids got see a K-9 obedience demonstration and got to see the inside of the police vehicles. We would like to thank the staff at All Saints for the invitation and look forward to coming back next year.
HOMEWOOD POLICE BICYCLE PATROL
The Homewood Police Department has recently brought back our bicycle patrol. Officer Rodney Sullen recently completed a bicycle patrol course at Auburn University. Officer Sullen is a veteran police officer who thoroughly enjoys interacting with the community. Officer Sullen will be patrolling the downtown area to provide additional services to the merchants and the patrons.
PINK BADGES ARE BACK
The Homewood Police Department is going pink again! Officers will have the option to wear pink badges for the month of October by making a donation to Breast Cancer Research. The badges will be worn to honor those fighting breast cancer, those who have survived breast cancer, and those lost to breast cancer.

On August 10, 2022, an unidentified female stole 6 laptop computers valued at $3,800.00 from a business on Green Springs Highway. **ROAD CLOSURE ON WEDNESDAY JULY 13, 2022**
There will be a temporary road closure on Wednesday July 13, 2022 in Homewood. Lakeshore Parkway between Greensprings Highway and Interstate 65 will be shut down in both directions from 6:15 AM through 6:45 AM. Motorist should expect delays and should take an alternate route if possible.
The Homewood Police Department would like to offer our deepest condolences and prayers to the family of Bibb County Deputy Brad Johnson and to the men and women of the Bibb County Sheriffs Department.

ROBBERY SUSPECT
The Homewood Police Department is asking for the public's assistance in identifying a suspect from a robbery that occurred on June 21, 2022 at the Game Stop on Greensprings Highway. If anyone recognizes the suspect in the photos or has any additional information regarding this investigation please contact the Homewood Police Criminal Investigations Division at 205 332 6236.
**HOMICIDE SUSPECT CHARGED**
A suspect in Friday's homicide at the Seafood King on Statefarm Parkway has been charged. On June 5, 2022, Homewood Police Detectives obtained a murder warrant through the Birmingham Division of the Jefferson County District Attorney's Office on Jerry Jewayne Jones, age 39 of Birmingham. Jones will be transferred to the Jefferson County Jail where he will be held on a $250,000.00 bond.
**2022 Citizens Police Academy**
The Homewood Police Department will be starting its 2022 Citizens Police Academy in August. The academy will consist of six sessions and will take place every Tuesday from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM. The academy will start on August 16, 2022 and will conclude with graduation on September 20, 2022. Topics covered will include a department overview, a facility tour, traffic stops/pursuits, a K-9 overview with demonstration, and a Tactical Team overview with demonstration. Meals will be provided each night prior to course instruction. In order to attend the academy you must work or live in Homewood. **RECENT VEHICLE BURGLARIES**
HPD is currently investigating several vehicle burglaries that occurred last night in the area of Peerless Avenue and Highland Road. The vehicles were all left unlocked. A vehicle was also stolen that was unlocked with the keys in it. We would like to remind everyone to please remove your valuables from your vehicles and lock them and never leave your keys in them. We would also like to ask any residents in the area that have cameras that were armed last night to check them. If you find any footage please contact HPD at 205 332 6200.
On May 2, 2022, three male suspects fraudulently used a credit card that was stolen out of Homewood multiple times at the Hoover Galleria. The purchases were in excess of $2,000.00. Anyone who can identify these individuals is asked to notify Detective Sgt. Chris Morgan of the Homewood Police Department at 205-332-6218.

THEFT SUSPECTS
On Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at approximately 5:00pm, an unknown male and female stole a 14k rose gold antique watch – valued at $2,000.00 from a business in the 800 Block of Green Springs Hwy in Homewood, AL. The suspects were in an unknown make and model white van. The watch contains rubies and diamonds. It looks like a bracelet until a flip up face reveals the watch. HOMEWOOD POLICE TRAINING EXERCISE REMINDER
Today, January 12, 2022 the Homewood Police Department will be conducting a training exercise at 304 Clermont Avenue. Diversionary devices will be used during the training and residents may hear a few loud noises from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. There will be NO LIVE GUN FIRE and there will be no risk to the public.

**REWARD OFFERED IN UNSOLVED MURDER CASE**
The Governor's Office is offering a $10,000 reward for information that would lead to an arrest for an unsolved murder of Cameron Bozeman that occurred in Homewood in October of 2018. **2021 CHRISTMAS PARADE
The city of Homewood Christmas Parade will take place tomorrow December 7th at 6:30 PM. Motorists should expect traffic delays beginning at 5:00 PM around Homewood Central Park, Oxmoor Road, and downtown Homewood. HPD will have extra officers stationed on the parade route and throughout the downtown area.
ROBBERY SUSPECT
On 11-29-21 at around 1:00 PM Gamestop on Green Springs Hwy. was robbed. The suspect is described as a black male, 5’6” around 150lbs in his late teens or early twenties armed with a handgun. He is wearing a Michael Kors hoodie. If you recognize this person, or have knowledge of the crime call Homewood Police at 205-332-6236.

On 11/11/2021 two suspects stole a laptop computer from Christopher’s Closet on Linden Ave. If anyone recognizes these subjects please contact Detective Sgt. Chris Morgan, 205-332-6218.
THEFT SUSPECT
On 11-10-21 a theft was committed at Lowe’s in Homewood. The suspect was a black male wearing a red jersey. While escaping the scene the offender caused injury to a Homewood Police Officer. SHOOTING INVESTIGATION
On November 11, 2021 at around 11:00 PM Homewood Police responded to a report of a person shot at the Brookwood Apartments. One male victim was located outside on the property suffering from a single gunshot wound to the foot. The preliminary investigation suggest that that the victim was shot inside an apartment by another male acquaintance. The victim was transported to a local hospital with non life threatening injuries. No suspect is in custody at this time. The Homewood Police Department is attempting to identify the subject in the below photo. On October 1, 2021 the subject in the photo stole a purse out of a vehicle at Publix on Greensprings Highway. The subject then used the victim’s credit card at the Brookwood Village Target. If anyone recognizes the subject please contact Sergeant Morgan at 205 332 6218.

OCTOBER'S K-9 FOR A DAY
This month's K-9 for a day is Juliet. Juliet is a six and a half year old boxer-pit mix. She is great with other pets, people, and knows basic obedience. She was"sworn in" and spent the afternoon in downtown Homewood with Officer Suggs. THE ADOPTION FEE FOR JULIET HAS BEEN PAID. The Homewood Police Department is attempting to locate a missing person. Kenia Lopez Carranza, age 19, was last seen in Homewood near SOHO on October 11, 2021. Kenia is 5’1”, 110 lbs. and was last seen wearing a green shirt and light blue pants. If anyone knows the whereabouts of Kenia please contact Sergeant Smith at 205 332 6255.
SUSPECT VEHICLE INVOLVED IN THEFT
HPD is attempting to locate a white a SUV towing a barbeque trailer that was involved in a theft that occurred at the West Homewood Athletic Complex on September 22, 2021. If anyone recognizes this vehicle or knows of its whereabouts please contact Detective Sergeant Morgan at 205 332 6218.
