SANTA AT THE EXCEPTIONAL FOUNDATION

On Monday December 12, 2022 the Homewood Police Department Motor Unit had the pleasure of escorting Santa to the Exceptional Foundation's annual Christmas Celebration. The men and women of the Police Department had a blast celebrating the season with the students and staff at the Foundation. The Homewood Police Department is excited to announce that we will be participating in the 2022 Peanut Butter Drive. We will be collecting jars of peanut butter which will directly benefit the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama. The 2022 goal is to raise 2 tons of peanut butter. You can drop off the jars in our drop box which is located in the Homewood Police Department lobby at 310 West Valley Avenue.

The Homewood Police Department K-9 Unit had the pleasure of speaking to the kids at All Saints Episcopal Preschool this week. HOMEWOOD POLICE BICYCLE PATROL

The Homewood Police Department has recently brought back our bicycle patrol. Officer Rodney Sullen recently completed a bicycle patrol course at Auburn University. Officer Sullen is a veteran police officer who thoroughly enjoys interacting with the community. Officer Sullen will be patrolling the downtown area to provide additional services to the merchants and the patrons.

**ROAD CLOSURE ON WEDNESDAY JULY 13, 2022**
There will be a temporary road closure on Wednesday July 13, 2022 in Homewood. Lakeshore Parkway between Greensprings Highway and Interstate 65 will be shut down in both directions from 6:15 AM through 6:45 AM. Motorist should expect delays and should take an alternate route if possible.

The Homewood Police Department is asking for the public's assistance in identifying a suspect from a robbery that occurred on June 21, 2022 at the Game Stop on Greensprings Highway. **HOMICIDE SUSPECT CHARGED**

A suspect in Friday's homicide at the Seafood King on Statefarm Parkway has been charged. On June 5, 2022, Homewood Police Detectives obtained a murder warrant through the Birmingham Division of the Jefferson County District Attorney's Office on Jerry Jewayne Jones, age 39 of Birmingham. Jones will be transferred to the Jefferson County Jail where he will be held on a $250,000.00 bond.

**2022 Citizens Police Academy**
The Homewood Police Department will be starting its 2022 Citizens Police Academy in August. The academy will consist of six sessions and will take place every Tuesday from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM. The academy will start on August 16, 2022 and will conclude with graduation on September 20, 2022. Topics covered will include a department overview, a facility tour, traffic stops/pursuits, a K-9 overview with demonstration, and a Tactical Team overview with demonstration. Meals will be provided each night prior to course instruction. In order to attend the academy you must work or live in Homewood. **RECENT VEHICLE BURGLARIES**

HPD is currently investigating several vehicle burglaries that occurred last night in the area of Peerless Avenue and Highland Road. The vehicles were all left unlocked. A vehicle was also stolen that was unlocked with the keys in it. We would like to remind everyone to please remove your valuables from your vehicles and lock them and never leave your keys in them. On Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at approximately 5:00pm, an unknown male and female stole a 14k rose gold antique watch – valued at $2,000.00 from a business in the 800 Block of Green Springs Hwy in Homewood, AL. The suspects were in an unknown make and model white van. The watch contains rubies and diamonds. It looks like a bracelet until a flip up face reveals the watch. The city of Homewood Christmas Parade will take place tomorrow December 7th at 6:30 PM. Motorists should expect traffic delays beginning at 5:00 PM around Homewood Central Park, Oxmoor Road, and downtown Homewood. On 11-10-21 a theft was committed at Lowe’s in Homewood. The suspect was a black male wearing a red jersey. While escaping the scene the offender caused injury to a Homewood Police Officer. SHOOTING INVESTIGATION

On November 11, 2021 at around 11:00 PM Homewood Police responded to a report of a person shot at the Brookwood Apartments. One male victim was located outside on the property suffering from a single gunshot wound to the foot. The preliminary investigation suggest that that the victim was shot inside an apartment by another male acquaintance. The victim was transported to a local hospital with non life threatening injuries. No suspect is in custody at this time.
