Good morning to the Leadership Team and all the excellent Soldiers of the 829. Earlier this month my transfer to a mainland unit to was completed. I would like to take this time to thank each and every one of you for allowing me the privilege of serving as your First Sergeant. Your patience with my ignorance of the signal world was much appreciated. As was the welcome you extended to me as I picked up and carried the torch passed to me by 1SG Ganal. I know I had big shoes to fill as he had been a part of the unit and knew you all much better than I could ever have hoped to in my year with you. I will tuck the memories I made with you away in a special corner of my heart. Memories of looking out over the ocean from the top of the hill in the training area. The smell of Barbecue wafted down the valley to those poor Marines who only had MREs to eat. The Blackhawk “strafing runs” overhead and the cargo drops landing just downhill from our AO. Forever ingrained will be the 12-16 hour shifts for War Fighter in Japan where our 25 series professionals accomplished something unprecedented in the 9th MSC. Providing connectivity on organic equipment for our BDE element exclusive of the active duty component we were colocated with. The growth and capabilities I witnessed with all of our Soldiers since December of 2023 was outstanding. Every single one of you grew as Signal Professionals, Soldiers, and self-reliant human beings in just over a year. Much of that was due to your connections you made to each-other. So many units I have seen in 30 years of Service compartmentalize information and expertise. This unit is different in that you cross train and treat each-other more as a family than as rival sections competing for resources. You lean on your brothers and sisters in arms to take care of each other and complete the mission with an ohana-first attitude. Please keep relying on and taking care of each other. You will all continue to live in my heart. Mahalo Nui Loa. 1SG signing off the net. -1SG Jenny Lind
