Congratulations to LTC Dave Yi, Battalion Commander, 1st BN, 196th IN BDE, on graduating Jungle School—a demanding course that tests endurance, discipline, and leadership in tough conditions. He graduated alongside CPT Ramonjoe Respicio from 3rd BN, 196th IN BDE, showcasing the strength of the 196th team across the Pacific.

Leaders who pursue hard training bring that edge back to the formation, strengthening our readiness and supporting the JPMRC mission wherever we’re called to operate. Well done, gentlemen!

In closing out February, Maverick Battalion ramped up the tempo in fully committing to JPMRC 26-02 in Alaska, building readiness from the individual level to a full CTC rotation.

Congratulations to SFC Diggs, CPT Robinson, and CPT Aquino, who successfully completed Cold Weather Orientation Course (CWOC) — a course that steps towards mastering planning and operations in extreme cold, setting the conditions to coach, teach, and mentor Soldiers effectively in the Arctic.

Those Mavericks set the tempo in our preparation phase which paid dividends during the Artic Wolves culminating exercise at Fort Wainwright, where our Mavericks served as OC/Ts for 1-5 IN BN “Bobcats” as they operated across a true cold-weather fight. The rotation challenged everyone with -35° temperatures, elevated terrain, and persistent snow precipitation that complicated movement, visibility, sustainment, and communications.

Proud of the team’s professionalism and grit up north—and proud to support the Bobcats in sharpening their arctic readiness!

The Mavericks rang in the Lunar New Year this Friday with a reception hosted by LTC Dave Yi and his wife Sarah — good food, good drinks, great people, and even better memories! We cleaned up, showed out, and got some solid photos with the team.

Thank you to COL Matt LeClair and his wife Christy, and CSM Allen Porter for joining us in celebration! We’re proud of the culture we’ve built here — and we’ll take that team energy with us as we prepare for JPMRC Rotation 26-02 in Alaska next month.

Big congratulations to CPT Brandon Robinson on earning his Jungle Tab today!

Jungle School is earned the hard way — long days, tough conditions, and constant pressure that rewards discipline, resilience, and leadership when comfort is gone.

That experience directly strengthens our formation and supports our JPMRC mission, where adaptive leaders and tough decision-making matter most. Proud to have CPT Robinson representing the Mavericks and bringing that excellence back to the team!

Shout out to CPT Ethan Blackie and CPT Sean Aston for representing 196th IN BDE and graduating Jungle School today as well!

Shoutout to LTC Dave Yi and CPT Jack Samuelson for graduating CWOC (Cold Weather Orientation Course) in Alaska! This course pushes leaders to operate where the environment is the enemy — deep snow, cold wind, darkness, and long movements that demand grit, preparation, and smart decision-making.

This graduation is more than a milestone — it’s direct preparation for next month’s mission as they support JPMRC Rotation 26-02 in Alaska, serving as OC/Ts for 1-5 IN “BOBCATS”, 1st BDE, 11th ABN DIV. Huge congratulations — Mavericks stay ready!

We are an organization with vast responsibilities and a vital mission. Duty will take us from the northern most training areas in the dead of winter to the jungles of the Pacific during the most extreme weather of summer. Over the last year, we as a Battalion have performed admirably against the challenges of our operating environments while innovating and growing the Army’s newest Combat Training Center. Though we are few, we take on the role of many in order to accomplish our mission every day. CSM and I are immensely grateful for our team and proud to serve along side the Soldiers of this formation.

This holiday season spend some well-earned time with family and friends. Reflect on what you are grateful for and embrace your blessings. I hope that you return refreshed and ready to get after it in the New Year. CSM and I are extremely proud to be a part of this team.

Happy Holidays to you and your families.

Shoutout to CPT Sammy Domingo, CPT Tim Chavez, CPT Tyler Schultz, and CPT Jack Samuelson for crossing the finish line at the Honolulu Marathon this weekend!

Training for 26.2 miles doesn’t just happen — it takes early mornings, long runs, and a lot of discipline, especially while juggling work, family, and everything in between.

That kind of commitment to self-improvement and resilience doesn’t stop when the duty day ends. It’s the same mindset these leaders bring to the team every day. Outstanding effort, gentlemen!

Last month, Task Force Maverick successfully concluded JPMRC Rotation 26-01, supporting a demanding multi-island training environment alongside our partners across the 25th Infantry Division.

Following the rotation, we had the privilege of recognizing several leaders from 2nd Mobile Brigade, 25th ID for their exceptional performance as the Opposing Force (OPFOR). Their professionalism, adaptability, and commitment to the training mission directly elevated the rigor and realism of the rotation.

Thank you to our 2MBDE teammates for setting the standard and helping deliver a world-class training experience for all participating units!

Mavericks Lead the Way!

TF Maverick has officially completed JPMRC Rotation 26-01.

Over the past month, our OC/T teams provided full-spectrum coverage for 2nd Mobile Brigade, observing 1-27 IN on Oʻahu and 1-21 IN at PTA on the Island of Hawaiʻi as they executed a demanding OPFOR mission set.

From complex terrain to multi-domain injects, both battalions demonstrated disciplined enemy replication that pushed training units to their limits.

Proud of our Mavericks for delivering a world-class training experience and strengthening readiness across the Indo-Pacific!

Today, we bid farewell to SFC Shen O as he retires from the U.S. Army after 23 years of dedicated service.

SFC O’s final assignment was here with the 1st Battalion, 196th Infantry Brigade (JPMRC), where he served as an Observer-Coach/Trainer. Known throughout the formation as a well-respected, universally liked teammate, and an outstanding Soldier and NCO, his leadership, professionalism, and positive spirit left a lasting mark on the Mavericks team.

We thank SFC O for his exceptional service, mentorship, and commitment to excellence throughout his career. Congratulations on a well-earned retirement — you will always be part of the Maverick family!
