We are excited to announce the dates for the 2025 Hoover Candidates Forum. Join us on August 5 & 7 at Shades Crest Baptist Church for an evening with the candidates for Hoover City Council and Mayor.

The Hoover Candidates Forum uses a format that allows each candidate to answer questions from the Hoover community.

This is not a debate, so all questions will go to each candidate to answer individually. Questions will be collected from the community, much as we did in 2016 and 2020. Questions will be submitted in two ways: via a Google Form a few weeks before the event and live during the event.

Candidates - You will receive official communication from the Forum Committee in July. Feel free to message us before to confirm your contact information.

Volunteers - We always need volunteers for this event. If you are interested in being considered or want to learn more, message our page, and one of our committee members will contact you.

AmWaste Update for Memorial Day Week

The National Weather Service Birmingham (NWS) has announced that Birmingham’s weather radio system will be down for a scheduled software update from May 19 to 21. During this time, all Birmingham weather radio transmitters will be offline.
The NWS encourages families to stay weather-aware by using alternative sources for alerts, such as local TV and news stations, weather apps, internet alerts, and county emergency notification systems. Having multiple ways to receive weather warnings is especially important during this outage.

Always have multiple ways to receive alerts. The NOAA Weather Radios are going through a planned software update. Those radios will be down until Wednesday, but there are alternative alert systems you can use: weather apps, AM/FM radio, and local TV stations. If bad weather is in the forecast, make sure your phone is off DND (Do Not Disturb) and the volume is turned up.
