Life Kids Studio is a place where kids can come and learn about God's love! We want kid's lives to be transformed by the power of God! We want to grow their relationship with God by staying in His Word, teaching them to pray, and drawing close to Him in worship. We then want them to be empowered by the Holy Spirit to take this same love to those around them every day!

We just finished Week 4 of We Are Family! Sunday's Bible story was about Isaac and Rebekah's sons—Esau and Jacob. The twins struggled with each other even before they were born. Isaac and Rebekah picked favorites—Isaac preferred Esau, and Rebekah preferred Jacob. Esau loved to hunt, be outside, and was a very hairy man. Jacob preferred to stay around the house, work near home, and was smooth skinned. Jacob made a stew one day, and when Esau came back from a long hunt, he was so hungry! He asked Jacob for some of his stew. Jacob told Esau that he would give him some of the stew if Esau would give him his birthright as the firstborn son. Esau was so hungry, he gave up his birthright! Then later, Rebekah and Jacob tricked Isaac into also giving Jacob Esau's blessing! It was a tricky mess. We shouldn't trick our family or anyone for that matter! Even though God knew that this family would trick each other and treat each other poorly, God didn't give up on them. They were still part of Abraham's family. God promised to take care of Abraham's family, and He promises to take care of our families too!

Our Big Idea was We're all welcome in God's family!

Week 3 of We Are Family was awesome! Long ago, God had promised Abraham and Sarah that they would have a family so big that it would be as many as the dust of the earth. But many years passed, and they didn't have any children. However, in their very old age, God promised that by the same time the next year, they would have a son. And they did! They loved their son so very much! His name was Isaac. God was happy Abraham loved his son so much, but He also wanted to make sure Abraham remembered who we are to love more than anything. So one day, when Isaac grew up and became a man, God asked Abraham to sacrifice his only son. (For us adults, we know this is a foreshadowing of God giving up His only son for us!) So, Abraham and Isaac went on a high mountain with wood and fire, but no animal for the sacrifice. Isaac asked his dad what they would do, and Abraham told him the Lord would provide. After they prepared everything for the sacrifice, Abraham began to obey God and sacrifice Isaac. And it seems to us that Isaac, knowing God was mighty and trustworthy, was willing to climb on the altar and obey. But God sent an angel to stop Abraham from sacrificing his son! God KNEW then that Abraham loved Him above all else, even his only son. Then God provided a ram for the sacrifice. Abraham called the place "The Lord will provide." How amazing is our God to provide everything we need at just the right time! We know that we can trust God to provide.

We wrapped up Week 2 of We Are Family! Lot and his family lived in S***m. S***m was full of people doing bad things and living in serious sin. These sins were so bad and unrepented of that the Lord decided the city would have to be destroyed. Abraham didn't want his nephew Lot and his family to be destroyed along with the rest of the city, so Abraham prayed and asked if God would save the city if there were 50 people who followed Him. God said He would…but there weren't 50 godly people there. Abraham continued this all the way down until he got to 10 people—but even then there weren't enough godly people. Lot's family were the only ones who loved God, so Abraham prayed for the Lord to save Lot’s family. We learned we can pray for our families.

Week 1 of We Are Family is in the books! We learned how God called Abram to a new land. God promised Abram that He would make his family into a great nation, and that through his family, all the nations on earth would be blessed. Abram obeyed God and started walking! Sometime later, Abram and his nephew Lot ended up having to separate because their families and flocks had gotten too large to share the land. Abram generously let Lot choose which land he wanted first. After Lot left, the LORD told Abram to look around—north, south, east, and west—the LORD told Abram that He would give him and his offspring ALL the land he could see, forever. What a great promise! And just like Abram believed God's promises, our Big Idea was we can believe God’s promises too!

We just finished Week 4 of In the Beginning! We heard the story of Cain and Abel. Both brothers prepared a gift for God. Abel brought his best sheep, and Cain brought some of his crops. But God wasn't looking at what they brought; He was looking at their hearts. Because of that, God was more pleased with Abel's gifts than with Cain's, and that made Cain angry and jealous. Even then, God loved Cain and tried to warn him not to give in to his anger. Sadly, Cain attacked Abel, and Abel died. Cain kept making bad choices that took him farther and farther away from God. Like Cain, we have the chance to make good choices or bad choices. God always gives us a way out if we listen to Him! Our Big Idea was GOD HELPS US MAKE GOOD CHOICES!

Week 3 of In the Beginning is in the books! We saw how Adam and Eve chose to disobey God. This bad choice led to sin in the world, hurt, pain, hard labor in working, sorrow, and death—along with the immediate result of them being sent away from the Garden and from them being able to walk innocently in God's presence. THANK GOODNESS, the Lord made a plan to save us! Even when we mess up, our God always provides hope, a path back to Him, and freedom. Jesus is the ultimate salvation that has been promised from the beginning. We are so grateful the GOD MADE A PLAN TO SAVE US!
