One year later...
It was a year ago that you, Hoover residents, came out to the polls and elected me for City Council Place 1. I received more votes than any other candidate in City of Hoover history, and I don't take that result lightly.
The platform was simple: restore transparency and accountability to City Hall. Along with Team Ashley, and the support of the entire Hoover City Council , we created After the Gavel podcast to give you an update after every City Council meeting on not only the WHAT, but also the WHY we voted on something.
In the first month the Council passed a resolution to insure that not only Council Work Sessions and Council meetings were streamed and kept in perpetuity, but also Planning and Zoning meetings. You deserve to know what is happening even if you can't attend the meeting in person.
Despite this, we continue uploading the Council work sessions and meetings to The Hoover Channel.
One item that many of us talked about during the campaign was the forensic audit. City attorneys are in the final stages of making the official request to the Alabama Examiner of Public Accounts. It's taken much longer than expected, but it's still being worked on, and we appreciate your patience in this. I wanted it on Day 1. And I have not forgotten about it, and neither have those that supported it.
The City of Hoover has an organizational chart. It shows the two branches of the City Council and the Mayor's Office. But above both it reads Citizens of Hoover. We report and work for you. We are your public servants. Should you ever have a question or concern, reach out to me: [email protected] . I try to respond to every e-mail within hours. If I don't know the answer, I will try to find out what the answer is.
I am humbled by the trust you have placed in me. Thanks, Hoover!
