🚩 RED FLAG WARNING ISSUED FOR NORTH IDAHO — GUSTY WINDS EXPECTED THIS AFTERNOON
A Red Flag Warning has been issued for the Idaho Panhandle beginning at approximately 4:00 p.m. today, with gusty winds expected to create potentially dangerous conditions both on the water and for wildfire activity.
BOATERS — USE EXTREME CAUTION
Anyone planning to be on North Idaho lakes or rivers should consider staying off the water while the strongest winds are occurring. Gusty winds can quickly create rough water, higher waves and hazardous conditions, especially for smaller boats, kayaks and paddleboards.
Residents living along the shoreline are also encouraged to secure boats, paddleboards, kayaks, floating docks, water toys and other loose items before winds increase.
🔥 FIRE DANGER IS ALSO A MAJOR CONCERN
With dry conditions combined with stronger winds, even a small spark can quickly become a fast-moving wildfire.
Residents and visitors are asked to avoid activities that could accidentally start a fire. If you see smoke or a fire starting, report it immediately.
Conditions can change quickly when strong winds arrive, so use extra caution throughout the afternoon and evening.
