The intersection of religion and faith in countering racism and inequality.
In Interfaith Ministries’ Juneteenth Conversation with Archbishop Joseph Fiorenza, Rev. William Lawson, and Rabbi Samuel Karff, they were asked, “How can people of faith really step out right now and help make real change for good?” Join us for a conversation with the Rev. Gregory Han from Interfaith Ministries as he engages in dialogue with the Rev. Dr. Matthew Russell and the Rev. Dr. Cleve V. Tinsley, Co-Managing Directors of Project Curate.
The work of Project Curate focuses around curricula development and building intellectual/social community toward goals of the community and civic engagement. Project Curate ultimately seeks to enact an emancipatory ethos and practice of critical public engagement that moves people into zones where they are able to dismantle barriers that tend to exist along lines of class, race, sex, gender, and/or political orientation.
Count Me In!
Since the first census in 1790, the United States has conducted a population census every 10 years as required by the US Constitution. There are many purposes for the census including dividing US House of Representative seats among the states and allocating resources (federal funding!). Ensuring a complete count of each individual in every household is critical – the census includes every citizen, non-citizen legal residents, non-citizen long-term visitors and undocumented immigrants.

Interfaith Ministries Women’s Empowerment Group
Before coming to the United States, refugees have often experienced traumatic, life-threatening events. War, violence, or significant persecution has caused them to leave everything they know and love. For women, the adjustment to a new country can be especially difficult.
To help with that transition Interfaith Ministries created the Women’s Empowerment Group, designed to prevent isolation, build community, and equip women with the information or skills they need to begin a new life.

Tropical Storm Imelda stunned our community yesterday, flooding roads and homes, and even claiming lives. We began the day as normal, sending our Meals on Wheels drivers out on their usual deliveries. Those routine deliveries soon became a crisis situation, as some seniors were flooded in and inaccessible, and even some of our large trucks were stranded for hours in high water. Thankfully, all the drivers and trucks eventually made it back safely.
Thanks to our annual Operation Impact, which supplies all of our 4,300+ homebound seniors across five counties with shelf-stable food and bottled water prior to Hurricane Season, no senior went hungry yesterday. This emergency supply of food is made possible by friends like you! You are a hero to our seniors.
This morning, our drivers and trucks are ready to resume normal deliveries of hot lunches. It will be reassuring for the seniors to receive their usual hot meal and friendly visit, especially after Tropical Storm Imelda. We could not carry out this work without community support. Thank you for making this possible. And, if you are able, please consider making an extra donation to our Meals on Wheels program today.
