Rep. Castro wants Pre-K 4 USA

“For generations in America, we've seen that education is the surest path to success. That is why today I'm introducing the Pre-K 4 USA Act,” Castro said from the floor of the House of Representatives. The legislation would allow local education agencies and governments to apply directly to the federal government for grants to develop and expand pre-K programs.

U.S. Rep. Joaquin Castro introduced a bill Wednesday aimed at expanding early childhood education opportunities across the country.

We can't afford to let up on education

This blog post by Governor Rick Perry focuses on education in Texas: "We can’t afford to let up. Each generation builds upon the one that preceded it. While we have made great strides, we must continue to work together so that current and future students have the opportunities that will allow them and our state to thrive for decades to come."

Texas’ graduation rate is higher than the national average, and if you drill down, it becomes even more impressive. But we can't afford to let up.

Slots in the Fort Worth school district pre-kindergarten program are filling up quickly this year, even with the addition of about 20 more classrooms by August.
