Authorized by the Improving Head Start for School Readiness Act of 2007, Governor Rick Perry appointed the Texas Early Learning Council in 2009. The Council's 19 appointed members represent leaders in early childhood education and care from across our state.
In October, 2010, the Council received an $11.4 million federal grant from American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009 funds to improve and enhance early childhood programs and services within Texas.
During the course of the three-year grant, the Council will work with local, state, and national experts in the field of early education and care to improve school readiness for children in Texas. Please visit our website for more information.
