Mission: Mission The Marine Corps Recruiting Command conducts operations to recruit qualified individuals for enlistment or commissioning into the United States Marine Corps and Marine Corps Reserve to attain assigned Total Force personnel requirements by component and category in accordance with applicable Fiscal Year Marine Corps Accessions Strategy (Manpower Accessions Plan Memoranda) and the Military Personnel Procurement Manual, and as directed by the Commandant of the Marine Corps. Vision Recruiting is the lifeblood of the Corps. The legacy of the Marine Corps is to “Make Marines, Win Battles, and Return Quality Citizens.” Citizens, once transformed, will be Marines for life. As such, we are dedicated to recruiting high quality men and women of character to meet the needs of our Corps and the nation and who are representative of the people we serve. We are known for our high standards, strong work ethic, and commitment to work as a team to accomplish the mission. Enlisted Recruiting Our mission is to seek out and find the highest quality young men and women to take up the challenge to earn the title of a United States Marine. In order to continue maintaining the high Marine Corps and Department of Defense quality standards and attain a diverse entry-level population representative of national demographics, we strive to enlist only the best and the brightest youth of America. We seek individuals who are mentally, morally and physically qualified to be transformed into Marines and foster our “Elite Warrior” culture. Each applicant must embrace our Core values of Honor, Courage, and Commitment. We are not taking applications, only Commitments. This philosophy is our ethos. The Marine Corps offers a wide variety of enlistment programs from aviation electronics to infantry, and we offer qualified men and women the opportunity to see if they have what it takes to earn the title of Marine. In turn, we imbue young people with traits that will help make them successful throughout their lives, such as leadership, a strong sense of teamwork, dedication, and sound decision-making skills -- traits that any future employer will find valuable. We also understand that recruiting and retaining a diverse force is vital to the success of the Corps, both today and tomorrow. Maintaining a Marine Corps that is representative of the society it protects remains a priority for our Corps. Officer Recruiting Our enlisted Marines deserve the finest leadership we can provide. Officer recruiting provides the Marine Corps with commissioned officers of the highest leadership potential. The needs of the Marine Corps establish the demand for new officers. Talented young men and women are accessed in the precise numbers needed to support our requirements. This is done in a manner that reflects both the quality and rich diversity of America’s young people, as we understand the diversity of our officer corps is one of our greatest strengths.

The ASVAB is a test that measures your aptitudes. It consists of ten short individual tests covering word knowledge, paragraph comprehension, arithmetic reasoning, mathematics knowledge, general science, auto and shop information, mechanical comprehension, electronics information, numerical operations and coding speed. When you take the ASVAB prior to enlisting, not only do you receive scores on each of these individual tests, but several individual test results are combined to yield three academic composite scores: verbal, math and academic ability.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Officer candidates who did not receive a minimum score on the SAT or the ACT must take the ASVAB and score a minimum of 115 on the Electronics Repair composite. #marine #whythemarines #marinecorps #1775 #TeamSmurph #career

“On behalf of the President of the United States, the United States Marine Corps, and a grateful Nation, please accept this flag as a symbol of our appreciation for your loved one’s honorable and faithful service.”

Arson Investigator Lemuel “DJ” Bruce served in the Marine Corps for five years, but he lived his life in service of others. It was an absolute honor to participate in the funeral honors ceremony. The Houston Fire Department orchestrated one of the most memorable ceremonies I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing. “If the Army and the Navy ever look on Heaven's scenes, they will find the streets are guarded by United States Marines.” #Marines #Army #HoustonFireDepartment #HFD #HPD #SemperFidelis #StayFaithful

👨‍🎓👩‍🎓 This is Brooke. Brooke is an active duty Marine, and has been so for 8 years. Brooke worked on her education while active duty, starting at her 1 year mark in 2013, using tuition assistance and FAFSA (no money out of her pocket, no debt). Brooke attained her Associates degree in 2015, attained her Bachelor's in social psychology and global communications by 2017, and then attained her Master's in Business Administration by 2019. She had NO COLLEGE EXPERIENCE prior to the Marine Corps, but earned and transferred 12 credits through military training by the time she started college classes that knocked out almost a semester toward her degree.

Brooke's job in the Marine Corps equates to an inventory Management Specialist, but has also held billets within supply administration and Operations for fiscal and procurement.
She was able to take 2-3 classes per semester, with 8-week semesters, and even achieved both her Bachelor's and Master's!

Brooke credits the Marine Corps for giving her the determination to finish her degrees, beacuse it was her top reason for joining. She knew she wanted to receive a high level education and didnt want the student loan debt. Once in the Marine Corps, Brooke also realized how good she was at being a Marine and how much she truly loved it.

Just like Brooke, these opportunities are out there for YOU!!

How bad do you want it???

Lance Corporal Jose G. Villa, from #Waller, TX, is currently enrolled at the Naval School of Music to train as a musician in the U.S. Marine Corps Music Program.
LCpl Villa graduated from Waller High School and participated in the Waller High School Concert Band and marching band as the Low Brass Section Leader and Drum Major. He also competed in the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) @tmeaorg bands and qualified for the All-Region Band, All-Area Band, and the 5A All-State Band. LCpl Villa was the recipient of a Gold Medal for the University Interscholastic League (UIL) Solo and Ensemble competition and was awarded the John Phillip Sousa Band Award from his high school band. After high school, LCpl Villa attended #blinn in #Brenham, TX, where he had the opportunity to take lessons from the Canadian Brass during their residency. The combination of lessons from the Canadian Brass and Dr. Alexander Cruz, of The University of Texas at Austin, contributed to him placing in the Texas Community College Band Directors Association All-State Band (TCCBDA) and perusing his career in the U.S. Marine Corps.
“I have been working both physically and musically for little over a year to make this occupation become a reality. Originally, I felt that I could not compete with the expectations that are needed to become a Marine, but I took the challenge of sharpening my musicianship and getting physically in shape to change my life for the better. Being at the Naval School of Music has been a great learning experience and I truly can’t wait to experience the future adventures in the fleet bands. ”
- Lance Corporal Jose G. Villa

Some of what you seek can be found online. But for Marines, the things that matter most must be fought for: a true sense of purpose that comes from knowing you’re part of something bigger than yourself and belonging that’s only found among those who share a common cause. Not everyone belongs in our ranks, but those who do–belong. Be part of the fight.

Being from Brooklyn New York and seeing my surroundings, I told myself I will never become a product of my environment. Instead, I’ll become someone that others can look up to if they feel they had no where else to turn, if they felt that they can’t make a difference in this world. The Marine Corps gave me an opportunity to be that role model that I envisioned to be. 9 years later I never imagined myself as the type of person I am today. Had opportunities to travel the world and impact lives while doing it. The Man, The Myth, The Legend

Gunnery Sergeant John Basilone.

John Basilone (November 4, 1916 – February 19, 1945) was a United States Marine Corps Gunnery Sergeant who received the Medal of Honor for heroism above and beyond the call of duty during the Battle for Henderson Field in the Guadalcanal Campaign, and the Navy Cross posthumously for extraordinary heroism during the Battle of Iwo Jima. He was the only enlisted Marine to receive both of these decorations in World War II.

He enlisted in the Marine Corps on June 3, 1940, after serving three years in the United States Army with duty in the Philippines.

He was deployed to Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, and in August 1942, he took part in the invasion of Guadalcanal. In October, he and two other Marines used machine guns to hold off an attack by a far numerically superior Japanese force.

In February 1945, he was killed in action on the first day of the invasion of Iwo Jima, after he single-handedly destroyed an enemy blockhouse and led a Marine tank under fire safely through a minefield.

He has received many honors including being the namesake for streets, military locations, and two United States Navy destroyers.
