This wonderful brother and sister (Elizabeth and Michael) are students at Fort Bend Christian Academy. They took time from their weekend and volunteered on behalf of My Brother's Keeper - to make Super Bowl of Caring bags at Kroger's. They made 200 bags of groceries, that great customers like you and I can purchase and donate. It's a wonderful time of the year - Super Bowl of Caring - where we (MBKOC) benefit a great deal from the wonderful bags that are sold at most of our grocery stores. So, when you are out doing your own grocery shopping, please remember to purchase a bag and donate it. Stores that we actually benefit from are Krogers at Grand Parkway 99 and Mason Road, in Richmond and Krogers in the Brazos Town Centre in Rosenberg. Thanks a million Elizabeth and Michael. We need more students to volunteer, so if you know someone or have a student in middle schooler or older, please in box me for details.

These two wonderful young men (Hunter Monahan and Aidan McDonald) are students at Fort Bend Christian Academy. During their Christmas break, and as part of the Student Leadership group (SALT), they did a fundraiser to benefit My Brother's Keeper Outreach Center and raised $500. I am so very humbled and honored to receive it. So, gentlemen on behalf of the board of directors and staff of MBKOC, thank you so very much for thinking of us, and supporting the community by giving back to others.

PROGRAMS / SERVICES

Client Services interviews each individual to determine the most effective way that MBK can assist them through their crisis and help them to obtain self sufficiency. MBK serves any one qualifying for services without regards to race, gender, ethnicity or religion.

Assistance can be any or all of the following: Food pantry – individuals or families who qualify and are in need receive a weeks worth of groceries and may return for services once every 30 days. Clothing – individuals or families who qualify and are in need may choose two outfits for each member of their family, once monthly. Financial Assistance – individuals or families is provided for a documented crisis, primarily for rent and utilities. Clients that are seeking employment may sign up to use our computer room for internet access. Also, they are given information on any jobs that we may have information on at the time of their visit.

Christian Counseling
Is offered to anyone wanting to see a certified counselor. Appointments are set for a future date.

Food Pantry
The Food Pantry supplies food to individuals and families who have established a need through Client Services.

The MBK Pantry depends on food drives, individual donations and financial contributions to provide its services. During the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays special packages are prepared and distributed.

Financial Assistance
Financial Assistance is provided for a documented crisis, primarily for rent and utilities. A partial amount of the bill or rent/mortgage is paid through promissory voucher, until all funds have been obtained by the client.

Employment / Education Center
Our employment and education center provides the following: Computer access to create resumes and/or update resumes. Internet access for on-line job search. In addition, employment postings from businesses in our community and the Houston area are posted on our bulletin board.

Basic computer classes of MS Office are offered throughout the year. In addition, we have ESL, SSL (Spanish as a second language), Money Management, Professional Etiquette, Life Management, Interviewing Techniques and Resume Writing classes offered throughout the year. And finally, we have some basic job skills training in business (i.e., receptionist training, customer service training, and dress for success training) these classes are also offered at different times throughout the year.

Special Programs
School Supply Drive – As the new school year approaches students need to be equipped with the required items to help ensure that they are successful learners.

Each year MBK receives donations of school supplies and purchases grade appropriate school supplies for the students registered in the Inspiring Minds School Supply Program.

Holiday Programs

Thanksgiving Meal Program – Each year MBK provides many clients with a traditional Thanksgiving meal that can be prepared to their own liking. These families otherwise would not have a Thanksgiving meal without our help.

Christmas Meal Program - Each year MBK provides many clients with a traditional Christmas meal that can be prepared to their own liking. These families otherwise would not have a Christmas meal without our help.

Children’s Christmas Social – Each year MBK gives children from one year old to sixteen years of age a present. Without this gift, many of these children would not have any Christmas presents.

Easter Outreach Social – Each year MBK gives children from one year old to twelve years of age an Easter basket with a set of Resurrection Eggs. We also celebrate with other outside activities and refreshments.

Greetings to you and all your family best wishes and keep it up, blessings
Hi! Are you looking for a great fund-raising activity? We have an excellent opportunity for your youth department. We are seeking a group association or church to work at one of our firework stands on Bissonnet. It is a 2 week commitment but the outcome is very profitable. St. Anne's Church in Tomball, TX runs the superstore and they do it every year because the outcome is worth it! We give you the products and you get commission from the gross profit. It's an excellent opportunity! St. Anne's Catholic Church has been doing it for years now at the Tomball location. I would love to email the details to you or discuss them more over the phone. Please feel free to contact me at your earliest convenience as it a first come first serve basis. Hope to hear from you soon! Thanks, Kelsey Andre
