School begins this week:

🚨 School Bus Safety Reminder 🚨
With students heading back to school next week, please remember to stop when a school bus is displaying its flashing red lights.
Do not proceed until the red lights stop flashing, the bus driver signals you to continue, or the bus begins moving again.
Exception: If your vehicle is separated from the school bus by a physical barrier or intervening space, you are not required to stop. On roadways with only a center left-turn lane, you must stop.
Passing a stopped school bus is dangerous and illegal. Violators can face fines of up to $1,250, license suspension for repeat offenses, and criminal charges if someone is seriously injured.
Help us keep our students safe this school year. Slow down, stay alert, and stop for the bus.

That's thousands of neighbors who noticed something and said something, and thousands of City worker hours spent making Baytown better. This is what happens when a community works together.

Check once a month: a simple check can prevent big waste.

By checking for leaks monthly, you can prevent thousands of gallons of wasted water:
· Dye check toilets
· Check for leaky faucets and pipes
· Do a water meter check

Catch small issues early before they drain your wallet. Every drop counts, Baytown!

Standing Water is Half the Battle: Tip it. Toss it. Cover it.

A few minutes a day can prevent thousands of mosquitoes later. Check your yard for anything that can hold water. The smallest container can become a mosquito nursery.

Make mosquito prevention part of your weekly routine.

TOMORROW: Summer is winding down, and it's almost time for GCCISD students to head back to school!

Join us for the 2026 Back-to-School Fair, hosted by the City of Baytown and Communities In Schools of Baytown. GCCISD students can receive a backpack filled with school supplies while supplies last, plus enjoy community resources and family-friendly activities.

Due to the limited parking available, will have additional parking for families at Turn2 Specialty Companies (2315 W Main St). There will be a shuttle operating from 7 am – 12 dropping off families at the Community Center. It will operate throughout the event to take families back and forth.

No registration is required. Parents must provide proof of enrollment for each student through the GCCISD Parent Portal at check-in.

Thank you to our amazing sponsors for helping make this event possible!

Ever wonder what happens after you report an issue? Here's the full journey.

You spot an issue. You submit a ticket in the Better Baytown app. The City assigns it to the right team. The issue gets fixed. You get an update. Baytown is a little better.

It's a simple process, but it only works when residents like you are part of it.

Download the app and become part of the process. Learn more at baytown.org/app

Each fall, millions of birds travel along the Texas coast as part of one of nature’s most remarkable seasonal journeys. Baytown’s location along the Central Flyway makes our wetlands, shorelines, and natural areas important stopover habitats where migratory birds can rest, feed, and recover as they move south for the winter.

The City of Baytown hosts the annual Nurture Nature Festival every second Saturday in October on Fall Migratory Bird Day (October 10, 2026) at the Baytown Nature Center to celebrate wildlife, unique wetland landscapes, and the incredible fall migratory bird season along the Texas coast.

The Baytown Parks, Recreation, Nature, and Tourism team envisions a community where residents, visitors, and nature can live in harmony and help one another thrive. Creating a bird-friendly community supports not only birds, but also local ecosystems, public health, and quality of life.
