Members have been preforming a decon prior to checking out apparatus at the start of shift.

Temperatures are also checked along with mask worn to prevent the spread of germs.

Hand washing for more than 20 seconds is also a mainstay during the shift.

Staying safe to serve you!

Cy-Fair Fire Department

The Cy-Fair Fire Department has made necessary changes to prevent the potential spread of COVID-19 as per guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Harris County Public Health (HCPH). We will ensure the protection of our personnel so they may continue to serve and provide quality healthcare to the Cy-Fair community.

The following changes will last through the end of the month of March or until further notice:
- Add a paramedic to the dispatch floor to help screen patients before crews arrive on scene
- Limit access to our Medic units to essential personnel only
- Cancel/ postpone all outside EMS Events
- Cancel/ postpone all public CPR classes and public relations events, including impromptu station tours

Rest assured, the immediate health risk of COVID-19 to the American public is LOW according to the CDC. These changes have been made out an abundance of caution to limit potential contact for those individuals with high-risk factors.

Last night for Thursday night training we had a friendly competition.

Both station 5 and Cy-Fair VFD Station 9 were split into 2 blended crews and tasked to lift a table containing multiple cups of water as high as possible off the ground using only air bags and cribbing.

The crews were also timed on the evaluation and upon completion were judged on the highest table, least water spilled and best cribbing practices.

Last night for Thursday night training members participated in an endurance drill using the rescue tools.

Our members were first tasked with moving plastic eggs using the heavy and light set of cutters and spreaders, later progressing into using real eggs.

They then began to stack cribbing as high and complex as possible. All was done while having audio and visual distractions, along with combating fatigue due to prolonged handling of tools.

Although this exercise was used to simulate as close to an atmosphere as they can expect they made it a fun one as well! ✂️🥚

Last night for Thursday night training our members along with Cy-Fair VFD Station 9 participated in a survival drill.

Members were tasked with vacating a structure using only the hose as a guiding tool out.

Their masks were blacked out so they could not see and had to listen and feel. There also were auditory distractions in the background which would simulate actual fire ground operations that crews would endure.

All preformed excellently and had a fun time in the process including District Chief 3!
