Robinson Police sergeant fired after becoming ensnared in prostitution sting

I feel like he could have waited until after he got off duty... and after he had changed into plain clothes ... and after he was not in a marked vehicle. But, that's none of my business.

A Robinson Police sergeant who said he was undercover and not a 'John' during a prostitution sting by the McLennan County Sheriff's Office has been fired.

Appeals court halts judge's order to change Harris Co. bail system

How much more time does I take? So broken.

A federal appeals court granted Harris County a last-minute reprieve Friday in a contentious civil rights lawsuit, calling a temporary halt to a judge's order that would have altered the way cash bail is handled for hundreds of people jailed on misdemeanor charges. The new system was set to go into…

Another Constitutional Protection That's Eroding -- Double Jeopardy

Prosecuted for the same crime twice??? That's taking "due process" to a whole other place...

The Fifth Amendment's protection against double jeopardy -- being prosecuted more than once for the same crime -- has eroded due to Supreme Court decisions back in 1959. A new case that's been appealed gives the Court an opportunity to rectify that mistake.

How Harris County Deputies Mistook a Sock Full of Cat Litter for a Half Pound of Meth

I already posted about this, but I just can't get over it... "Kitty Litter Kingpin." I'd be so embarrassed if I was the deputy on scene. Just goes to show, field tests for drugs are junk!

It wasn't long before the Internet People christened Ross Lebeau as the “Kitty Litter Kingpin.” He had never even watched an episode of Breaking Bad before, he says—and yet on the afternoon of December 5, he found himself handcuffed, charged with possession of between 200 and 400 grams of methamphet...

Cypress man arrested for meth actually had cat litter in sock

Insane. Don't let the government search your car... you may end up locked up for cat litter. Thankfully he was actually able to post bond and didn't rot in jail for 2 months or more waiting for the state to say... whoops!!! ... cat litter.

A Cypress man who was arrested last year says a cheap, faulty test led police to believe he had a large amount of methamphetamine, when it was in fact cat litter in a sock.

A Look Back at Harris County's Big Year in Criminal Justice — and Lawsuits

Triumphs (hardly) and Tribulations (mostly): Harris County - A year in review

As ye olde saying goes, the wheels of justice move slowly—but at least in Harris County this year, somebody must have kicked the donkey. 2016 was full of criminal justice reform proposals — and also criminal justice lawsuits. It was full of scandals that controlled political campaigns, and full of.....

Feds go after Bandidos lawyers

The Feds must have some serious issues with their case if they feel the need to go after the defense attorney!! Shame on them for their shady tactics. Defense attorneys have an important job to do and should not be targeted by the government for doing their job well.

Federal prosecutors contend that two Houston lawyers should be prohibited from representing the former head of the Bandidos Motorcycle Club who is charged in a racketeering case alleging murder, drug dealing and other crimes.

'San Antonio Four' cleared on all charges by Texas appeals court

Actual innocence and forensic evidence used at trial now considered "junk science." Yes, innocent people are in prison. Yes, jurors get it wrong sometimes. BEYOND A REASONABLE DOUBT is THE highest burden and should be very very tough for the prosecution to prove.

Elizabeth Ramirez, Cassandra Rivera, Kristie Mayhugh and Anna Vasquez were accused in 1994 of sexually assaulting Ramirez's young nieces.
