2020 has brought unexpected challenges for many individuals, companies, and organizations. Despite the challenges, the YMCA has adapted by providing support for our community with regular food distributions to families in need, childcare for essential workers, creating initiatives to end social inequality and more. The Y’s continued commitment to providing these services has been financially devastating to our organization. Help us continue to provide for our community by making a year-end contribution to the YMCA of Greater Houston, a 501c3 charity, and help us impact those in need: https://www.ymcahouston.org/give

Now, Rafiullah is an Engineer Assistant at Harvey-Cleary Builders, one of the largest construction contractors in Houston and a proud supporter of the YMCA. Michael heard about how the YMCA helped provide local families in need with a Thanksgiving meal and wanted to offer his support by donating to help hundreds of Houston-area families.
Thank you to Michael Arcos and Luby’s for brightening Thanksgiving for so many!

Meet Cho Cho Me, a Burmese refugee turned American Citizen thanks in part to YMCA International Services. Once Cho Cho became a U.S. citizen, she knew that she could make a difference by voting. On October 20, 2020, at 5 P.M., she went to vote for the first time in her life as an American citizen. Cho Cho took her 15-year-old son, who isn’t a U.S. citizen yet, but who she hopes will follow in her footsteps to exercise his right to vote when he is able. Cho Cho felt excited and impatient to vote in her first American presidential election, and now that her first voting experience is out of the way, she looks forward to voting in all future elections. We’re so proud of Cho Cho and grateful to have played a small part in her journey to becoming an American.

Thank you to Elevation Outreach, a ministry of Elevation Church for donating more than $75,000 to help us continue to provide this service. Please take a minute to watch this emotional and raw video of our YMCA staff, including Houston’s own, Stephanie Taylor, discussing their amazing work!
