The NASA HUNCH Softgoods team has completed the delivery of 10 US Hygiene Kits to NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration. These kits, consisting of 6 various sized pockets with a folding backboard, were completed by advanced fashion design students at Cypress Ridge High School. The kits will be used to hold crew preference items to make their stay on board the ISS more comfortable and convenient.

Students signed a single stowage locker panel designated for flight hardware assembly for their participation in producing flight softgoods.

With these 10 Kits delivered, HUNCH has delivered 28 US Hygiene Kits to the International Space Station program.

Palm Bay Magnet HS

We want to honor the excellent work of our NASA Hunch Student Finalists.

Each year our Engineering students work regularly in partnership with Lisa Passarelli from Kennedy Space Center.

This partnership involves students fabricating real-world products for NASA as they apply their science, technology, engineering, and mathematics skills as well as learning to work in teams and think creatively.

Our students presented projects to engineers from Kennedy and Johnson in a critical design review to be ranked among the top performers in the country and then the top three teams are invited to Johnson Space Center in Texas to present to Engineers and Astronauts for possible project advancement to the development stage.

Three teams were selected from Palm Bay Magnet HS this year to present in Houston, but NASA is currently under phase 3 during this pandemic, which means only mission essential personnel are allowed onsite. Therefore, our NASA HUNCH teamdue to the Covid 19 were unable to attend the finals.

The PBMHS community takes great pride in these students and their work.

It is with great pride we would like to recognize these students for their hard work and this special honor. #PiratePride #STEAM Magnet Schools of America #STEM #STEMforAll #STEAM NASA HUNCH #CreativeConfidence Brevard Public Schools (official) #HUNCHDesign2019

Next up is Mrs. Thomas of Cypress Ridge High School, a NASA HUNCH softgoods teacher, is making masks for local healthcare workers & her school's staff that are providing curbside meals to students.

She started making masks for her daughter, a nurse, and her fellow staff as cases increased at their hospital.

Highlighting how incredible NASA HUNCH teachers are helping out right now in the face of the current pandemic.

1st up is Mr. Westlake of Saint Thomas Academy, a HUNCH Design and Prototype teacher, is 3D printing face shield parts for healthcare workers!

"We are sterilizing everything in a UV goggle cabinet prior to delivery.

We have been printing with a layer height of 0.2mm, 4 layers top and bottom, 2 perimeter shells, 10% infill, no raft and no support. We have been using PETG for filament because it resists the strong cleaning chemicals that the hospitals are using, but they would be just as happy to have them in made in PLA."
