Exciting News from Rebero Village, Huye District. BCIEA's Ambassadors are busy at work spreading awareness and the importance Knowledge about cancer and other Non Communicable Diseases + Early Detection. What's on my mind? Today marks the end of Global 2020 October Breast Cancer Awareness Month!
At BCIEA we are immensely Thank ful for all those who supported and engaged in all our activities all over the world! But we wish to inform everybody that Breast Cancer Awareness is our Mission and Purpose and that October only intensifies our energy!
We Must Keep on Keeping on until we no longer have late stage presentations of this disease, no fear that prevents patients from seeking medical early detection, no stigma that surrounds breast cancer, no myths, taboo, misinformation, shame and guilt.
Not until we have access to sustainable breast cancer medical services, diagnosis, treatment, care and support with affordable drugs and specialized professionals and infrastructures.
Not until we have viable screening, vaccines and evidence based knowledge of what really causes breast cancer so that a CURE can be established.
Is this too much? YES it is. Can it be DONE? Mandela said:
"It always seems impossible until its done"
How can we then think we could only depend only on October?

One Day before end of 2020 October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, BCIEA Trained Rebero Village Ambassadors
took it upon themselves to introduce Breast Cancer Awareness to Timba Teachers before school opens next Monday.
We are so proud of Ambassador Chantal for initiating this training and thankful for all those who participated.

Sunday, October 18th 2020 was a special Day at the Pink Wellness House in Gihanga Village.
BCIEA welcomed a small group of Gihanga Village Leaders and members of the village plus medical professionals, breast cancer patients, survivors and youth for a Breast Cancer Awareness Meeting and Fellowship.
Gihanga is one of the Villages implementing our program known as: Fighting Breast Cancer One Smartphone per Village and our College Student Volunteers, Lysiane and Yves were recognized and officially introduced. Two survivors gave their moving and powerful testimonies, we honored those who are no longer with us because of Breast Cancer with a moment of silence and pledged to encourage and support those undergoing treatment.
Our Youth Volunteers graced the guests with interactive singing and reminded us the importance of physical activity as one way of reducing our cancer risk. Guests listened to life saving Information from BCIEA founder and doctors that wàs followed by a Q & A session.
It was amazing to witness how much the guests appreciated what they heard and how little they knew about breast cancer. A few people admitted they really didn't know anything about their breasts, there was no need to look at them. Men didn't know anything about male breast cancer.
The Group loved our
Ikunde = Love Yourself Imenye = Know Yourself and Isuzumishe = Get Checked and vowed to practice the THREE from then on.
The Leader of the Village who is a lady thanked and called upon every body to take action to fight Breast Cancer in Gihanga Village and she pledged to share her newly acquired information and to support our two Student Volunteers as they create breast cancer awareness in Gihanga Village especially during Umuganda and Umugoroba wababyeyi.
We are very thankful to New Times for covering this event and for Rwanda NCD Alliance, RBC's support, Village Leadership and all guests who manages to attend in spite of the rain. Together we are strong.

and hard work and received Beautiful Certificates of Appreciation and Achievement.

Short version: do not wear items that make a political statement or favor a candidate or position when you vote in person.
“Advice from a poll worker:
I’m reaching out to women I know who are active on private Democratic FB groups. And I know you probably know all this, but I’m covering all my bases...
More and more, I’m seeing women announcing they will be voting with shirts, buttons, masks or hats that say “Ruth Sent Me”, or something similar.
As a poll worker for many years, I know that nothing political is allowed within the polling place ( including BLM shirts, for example.) And unfortunately, this can be interpreted by whoever is in charge. It could mean, in some cases, that somebody wearing a shirt they don’t believe is political can be denied the right to vote after waiting in line for hours.
While I love the sentiment, I am VERY afraid of rampant voter suppression, and the other side will use ANY excuse to deny a legitimate voter the right to cast their ballot.
We need to approach this election strategically, and vote smarter and cleaner than we ever have before. And we need to understand that the other side will do what it takes to advance their agenda.
We need to vote in record numbers. But we need to vote SMART. We can wear that wonderful “Ruth Sent Me” shirt or mask when we get home, and raise a glass in her memory.
Please copy, or paraphrase and share with the groups you are members of, as appropriate. We need to get the word out so that every vote counts! We all know what’s at stake....”

At long last we were able to introduce our "Fighting Breast Cancer One Smartphone per Village" Project and it was very well received.

Birth Announcement at Pink Wellness House: Eight Baby Rabbits are our First of July Good News! It's kind of renewal of the state of mind with so much negativity surrounding us? All the other toddlers, teenagers and Mama's celebrated with fresh lettuce from our garden! The Papa was being territorial hovering over one female rabbit anxious for the Lettuce Party to be over so he can have his date without us in sight. This was our early morning Birthday Party for our 8 Additions to our Rabbit Family of 30. We are Happy and Thank God for them.
Last night I watched George Floyd and afterwords I asked myself what I or we can do to change the current horrific racism in USA? All of us must intentionally engage in the movement to bring about change. Surprisingly my husband shared with me this video which is a heart-wrenching History of African Americans that MUST Be Exposed and Told—I’m on my journey as an individual to do what I can do to change what’s going in our “ supposedly land of the free and home of the brave” USA is NOT FREE until ALL of US are free. This my idea of How what WE CAN DO: Steps to end Racism: We must know our history We must Break the Silence We must enact new Just Laws We Must actively reconcile We must practice fierce consequences We must engage actively in all efforts to end Racism We must see and acknowledge color We must sincerely celebrate our differences We must do all this NOW, it’s gone on too Long. We must rewrite USA History we teach so our children understand so they are empowered to live better, free and successful lives—without any chip on their shoulder or fear We must learn to Ask for, Receive and Give FORGIVENESS We Must Practice What we Preach, People of God. The Bible is for All of us in Truth not to be interpreted for one group of people to oppress another. God so loved the World... without any Discrimination We Must Serve Him in Truth not in Hypocrisy. Sometimes things happen spontaneously and you find yourself in a purely and amazingly happy place? This happened when I toured The City of Hope Medical & Research Center, Duarte, California and visited The Positive Image Center. I met Stella, the sweetest and kindest person and it’s obvious where her heart is as she talks about her patients. I was so inspired and ended up reminiscing on my own hair loss experience and how my own young daughter, Lisa, helped me. Per chance this was caught on camera—a treasure I’m willing to share on Face Book. Yes, please break the silence and let the children know what you are going through, they are scared, confused and affected just as you are. Studies have shown that 25% children blame themselves for their Mother’s illness and may end up suffering from depression.
