I learned about a website recently that I JUST LOVE! During COVID "living safely" guidelines and trying to stay home more than we usually would, I continue to hear stories of isolation and frustration with the inability to get out and do/see more...especially from the elderly....missing experiencing life and the world. This cool website was set up for people everywhere to submit a ten minute video of a window they look out of...so others can "change their window on life" at the click of a mouse. I decided this morning it's important to share our office window where we continue to see the life and the antics of our "wild life"....squirrels, blue jays, lizards. I found the perfect spot in our kitchen sink. I've set up my tripod in the sink and am letting it run today and I've already seen some pretty cute squirrels....can't wait to share my video on the website soon and encourage ALL OF YOU to do the same. Get a tripod, put it by a window and start filming. If you need help on how to cross the finish line, call us. We'll help you SHARE YOUR WORLD. WWW.WINDOWSWAP.COM

We've decided to make a tradition of an annual photo at our front door on the anniversary of when we bought our office in 2018. Although we are very serious about what we do, staying so focused on details we have to set reminders to get up and stretch, we did manage to take a few minutes today to have some fun showing it's 2020 in our photo without wearing masks since it's just the two of us. We continue to pray for everyone staying safe and we're busy at work here and thankful we can help people with their projects while meeting all "social distance" guidelines.

Alexandra’s Riddle

Unrelated to photos, but related to books. Before I share the info, let me explain. I've been an avid reader forever and recently started listening to audiobooks...and I've found them to be so much fun. I can listen to a book while I'm cleaning the dishes or during DIY projects, or, WAIT...even while I'm sorting my own photos. It's awesome.

If anyone is interested in listening to a good audiobook (Sweet Romance) I recently helped someone finalize the audiobook, and she has free codes for listeners who have time and interest in checking it out on Audible. It's a very cute book - not one I'd have selected on my own, but I found myself drawn into the story and it was so well written, I'll definitely be looking at other books by the author. Really delightful.

The book is called Alexandra's Riddle, and the author is an English teacher...LOVE THAT! Her name is Elisa Keyston and here's a link to see a bit about the book. https://www.elisakeyston.com/book/alexandras-riddle/

So, if you'd like to listen to it (and hopefully give the author and narrator feedback) let me know and I'll have them send you a link for the code. I think you'll enjoy the escape during these stressful times..

We hung the picnic table high on the fence so our friends don't have to come down to the ground. This cutie seems so full of peanuts she decided to plop on the bench to rest awhile. She stayed like this for a good five minutes.

Our New Custom-made Picnic Table for Special Guests

I'm going to try ONE MORE TIME...posts seem to be disappearing. We recently added a custom-made picnic table for our guests. It's great fun watching them while we work. Good news is so far they are sitting one at a time a the table so they're practicing social distancing. When there's no "goodies" at the table, they politely come up to our back door window and stand on two back feet with sweet faces as if to say, "Please, Photo Nanny, will you bring out more food?"

12 Practical Privacy Tips for Your iPhone

Hoping everyone is safe and healthy (and wearing masks when out and about just to be careful.) Meanwhile, wanted to share two links for reminders on keeping your "profile" safe on both iphone and android phones. Maybe you have some spare time (at home) where this would be a good to-do item....check it out and please do make any changes to your setup if you need to so the least amount is "out there." Always better to be safe - on the phone as well as out in the world these days, right? Iphone link here - will post a separate link for android.

With a few easy changes to the privacy and security settings, you can control how much information your iPhone—and your apps—collects and uses.

I needed a smile today and got it when one of my 72 year old clients wrote me an email in response to my questioning a date on a photo. Here's his response:. My memory is better than most people's. I remember lots of things that never even happened.

Love it!!!

Hope everyone is staying safe and sane!!! Praying for everybody and recovery for our world and the economy.

I guess we have an "explanation," but not so sure about our solution. The foundation experts say, "Well, it looks like somebody wanted to get home early (back in the Seventies) when mixing some of the concrete!"

Uh, okay.

"So, we can confirm the ground beneath is okay but bad concrete is wicking up moisture and holding it because it's too porous."

Uh, okay. So now what?

"Well, we will fill this hole with good concrete and wish you the best!"

Uh, okay. But what about all the other areas with this bad concrete?

"Good luck, Ma'am!"

Stay tuned for a creative solution...praying I can create a solution without trashing the entire $7,000 beautiful wood floor. :-(

Today we pray we finally get to the bottom of the mystery moisture causing our new floor to buckle. Pretty much had to move out to protect everything from dust. Frustrating but just hoping there is a definitive cause or we will have to rip out the entire floor to go with something other than our beautiful oak.

Hoping this "better late than never" Happy New Year is finding everyone off to a good start. We're not only aiming to get more work done this year helping clients with managing their photos...we're also setting out to aim for healthier lifestyle habits. We've embarked on an 8-week challenge toward that goal. So far, so good. If anyone else has added "diet and exercise" or just "habit changes" to their New Year's Resolutions,,,,along with getting (or keeping) their photos organized, MORE POWER TO YOU! Let us know if we can help, and/or send us share your stories here so we can commiserate as we try to make 2020 the Best Year ever for work and personal good habits!

We purchased our new office in late 2018...remodeled the entire first floor...including installing a beautiful oak wood floor throughout. The only problem (and why we still haven't had a "housewarming" party is there's some mysterious moisture causing part of our floor to buckle. It's been repaired (torn up and reinstalled) three times. After the third repair, we said PLEASE FIGURE OUT WHAT'S CAUSING THE PROBLEM before repairing it again. Soooo we've had a hole in the middle of the office since May. We're awaiting another "review" by an expert, but until he's here (we hope) next week, we've "decorated" the monstrosity with the Christmas spirit. Where our five boards are missing, we placed a tiny Christmas tree. Here's to trying to praying for a Christmas miracle...that our mystery will soon be solved.

Before I close up shop for the night, I wanted to share this cute photo of Mia. As she's getting more and more comfortable, we have learned we didn't rescue a cat, but we rescued a Meerkat! She's a total hoot as she stands tall whenever she needs to inspect things closely!

A little late since it's after midnight, but at least I finally got the third day of Christmas photo posted...been working like busy little elves all day and night...only a few days left till we can sleep again!

12/06/2019

We're hard at work meeting Christmas deadlines but so thankful for having a year full of blessings and wonderful projects to work on. Fun to take time out for a silly photo each day for our 12 days of Christmas. It's been quite a year for us with our move as well as many of our clients!!! My wish for all is a stress-free holiday season!

We're in our last 12 work days before Christmas so to help us remember to get up from the desk, we're doing a daily post of our "12 Days of Christmas"...starting with: On the 1st day of Christmas: One pretty kitty underneath the tree. (We're pretty certain Mia hasn't ever seen a Christmas tree before. She's been fascinated and apparently thinks she's hidden if she sits beneath the tree with her eyes closed!)

We recently added a custom-made picnic table for special guests. It's a lot of fun seeing the visitors as we're working. Good news is so far they're practicing social distancing and only sitting one at a time at the table. When the bowl is empty, they come up to the window with sad faces and front paws up to their chests as if to say, "Please, Photo Nanny, will you replenish our peanuts. We're SOOO hungry." (Video posted but didn't seem to attach to this post so do check it out. It will make you smile!)
