✈️🐾 PCSing to the European Union (EU) with your beloved pet? IMPORTANT UPDATE! 🐾✈️

Please read below for crucial changes regarding pet travel to the EU, especially if you're coming in short succession from Guantanamo Bay.

What's Changed?
As of October 1, 2025, military AMC rotators to multiple EU countries have become unavailable. This means military families and their pets will now need to travel commercially to European destinations when they PCS.

Why This Matters for Your Pet
When transiting through another country's customs, your pet's recent history in Cuba has different requirements compared to direct entry from the United States.

Cuba's Requirements for EU Import
For dogs and cats, rabies titers (a specific blood test) must be submitted 90 days prior to entry into the EU. This is a requirement confirmed by Army Veterinary Services.

Short Orders? No Problem!
Coming up on shorter orders and worried about the timeline? Don't stress! Come and talk to our dedicated team at the Veterinary Treatment Facility. We'll help you get started and walk you through all your available options.

We know PCS season can be stressful enough, but we're here to help make your pet's journey as smooth as possible!

Once the rain comes, the usual suspects come hopping around 🐸. This could be a harmless fellow, or a member of the insidious Bufos marinus (commonly known as bufo toads, cane toads, marine toads, giant toads, or neotropical toads).
🐕
When in doubt—keep your furry friends away from toads. Licking, mouthing, or consuming the toxins these toads secrete can cause cardiac and neurotoxicity in dogs. The most commonly observed initial clinical sign will be hypersalivation after mucosal contact with the toxin.
🚑
If you suspect your dog has come in contact with a toxic toad: separate dog and toad right away. Get your dog inside and get a damp towel, or damp clean rag, and use this to wipe the gums. Vigorous flushing of the mouth with a hose or faucet has also been recommended as long as the water is not pushed down the dog’s throat.
📞
Once you complete initial decontamination, observe your dog. If additional clinical signs develop like seizures, retching, and/or persistent agitation, call the Vet Duty Phone for further guidance.
🇨🇺
We have the pleasure of sharing this installation with so many interesting critters. Some of them just request a bit more space than others. We hope everyone and their furry friends are staying safe and dry!
