Together We Served (TWS) aims to replicate that same spirit of brotherhood and sisterhood in its own “Virtual Base” website.

With its membership containing only active serving and Veterans, TWS provides a secure platform for all Veterans to engage with other Veterans on a level that is simply not possible in most social networking environments.

VFW's Unmet Needs Program provides grant funds - VAntage Point

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Unmet Needs Program offers grants up to $1,500 to eligible Veterans, service members and military families.

Since 2004, the VFW has provided more than $5 million supporting Veterans and military families who face an unexpected financial hardship related to their military service. The VFW program can directly pay eligible expenses with no obligation of repayment. VFW also provides referrals to other organizations should additional assistance be required.

VFW's Unmet Needs program provides grants to Veterans for unexpected financial difficulty as a result of deployment or military activity or injury.

"Code of Support’s PATRIOTlink® platform is a free online resource database that includes thousands of programs tailored to the military and Veteran community.

Through PATRIOTlink, users can search vetted, direct, cost-free services specific to their needs. PATRIOTlink was recently redesigned to make it even easier to use. Now, users can complete searches by entering less information and they can view events and job opportunities in their area through a news feed feature."

Code of Support's PATRIOTlink database allows Veterans in need and their family members to search for free resources in their community.

* No classes will be held online or in person, March 16-21, but the university will be open
* UHCL will be closed March 13 for a scheduled holiday
*Classes will be taught online starting March 23 until further notice
*All events and activities on campus through April 30 are canceled

"The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) will release new capabilities this summer providing Veterans who receive care at VA with the ability to access their personal medical data using the Health Records on iPhone feature from Apple.

Veterans will see an aggregated view of their allergies, conditions, immunizations, lab results, medications, procedures and vitals in the Health app on their iPhone. Health Records on iPhone also brings together hospitals and clinics outside VA with the existing Apple Health app. Veterans can see their available medical data from multiple providers, including VA, whenever they choose."

Dear GI Bill students,
Are you a student currently training in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math? You may be eligible to apply for the Edith Nourse Rogers Science Technology Engineering Math (STEM) Scholarship.

Award and Eligibility: The Rogers STEM Scholarship provides up to nine months of additional Post-9/11 GI Bill® benefits for a maximum of $30,000 to certain eligible individuals who:
• Are enrolled in an undergraduate STEM program requiring at least 120 semester (or 180 quarter) credit hours for completion.
• Have completed at least 60 standard or 90 quarter credit hours toward their degree.
• Have or will exhaust their Post-9/11 GI Bill entitlement within six months.
• Are a Veteran or Fry Scholar.
Individuals seeking a teaching certification must have:
• Earned a post-secondary degree in a STEM field;
• Been accepted or are enrolled in a teaching certification program;
• Exhausted or will exhaust their Post-9/11 GI Bill entitlement within six months based on their current enrollment(s).

Note: Students who may not be eligible this term may be eligible in the future. Graduate programs are not currently approved for the Rogers STEM Scholarship.
