🚩The RED FLAG Blues-A Poem🚩
I woke up this morning and checked on the news,
To see which specific disaster we’d choose.
The map was a rectangle, angry and bright,
A Neon Magenta that screamed with its might.
"Don't spark a match!" the announcer implored,
As if we weren't already deeply, deeply bored,
Of the humidity levels at minus four percent,
Where even my houseplants look tired and spent.
My lawn is a tinderbox, so crunchy and brown,
Yep, the "Highest Fire Danger" is back in our town.
I shuffled outside for a breath of fresh air,
And static electricity stood up my hair.
I touched the door handle—a spark like a bolt!
I nearly succumbed to a thousand-volt jolt.
I’m scared to even blink or to sneeze,
For fear I’ll ignite the dry grass in the breeze.
It’s another Red Flag Day, we implore you please,
Don’t ignite the grass, the bushes, and the trees 🙏
