Our team had a busy time in Wichita. First, we visited the Nifty Nuthouse, then we enjoyed a team meal at Sakura Japanese restaurant. Afterwards, we explored an art exhibit at Envision Arts Gallery, an art studio for the blind and visually impaired. We met the artist and were encouraged to touch and interact with all the art. We strengthened our problem solving skills with a team-building exercise with an escape room at The Room, where we finished within the time limits, before relaxing at the pool with swimming.
On Saturday, our day was filled with intense competition. Molly Allen competed in HSA and POI. Olivia Cook competed in POI and prose. Binx Kitchkommie competed in poetry and prose. Abbey Montague competed in POI. Kadyn Pugh competed in prose.
Kadyn Pugh and Olivia Cook both advanced to semifinals. (Our team hasn't had anyone break into semis for a few years.) Unfortunately, they did not advance to finals.
Jayna Kralicek and Liza Hopkins competed on the festival side in IDA, earning a II rating. Liza Hopkins earned a II rating in poetry.
On our way home, we stopped for dinner at Sickies, where they had old vehicles hanging from the ceiling before the long drive home. It was a late night.
We're so proud of our kids who have worked so hard this season. 💜
