Last year, I developed 12 historic site posters for the NYS Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation. It was a wonderful project to work on. At the start of this year, I was commissioned by them for one more poster for their Centennial Celebration – but in a much different style. I always enjoy seeing how projects develop, so I thought I’d share this video of the evolution of the design.

In 2023, I was commissioned to develop a series of 12 posters for the NYS Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation. This was a dream assignment that took me and my wife Jackie to a number of historic sites across the state. We traveled on weekends, gathering photos, and soaking up the experience. I’m looking forward to sharing the designs in a future post.

In 1948, on the heels of WWII, the United Nations adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Eleanor Roosevelt was one of the key architects of the document, which aimed to affirm the rights that every person should be afforded.

This past fall, the Eleanor Roosevelt Center at Val-Kill wanted to commemorate this important milestone and make the information available for schools in a poster format. I was fortunate to get the call to develop the poster, and this is the result.

The poster, which references all the articles of the declaration, is available at the Visitor Center at the Home of Franklin D. Roosevelt National Historic site in Hyde Park, NY.

New addition: Lyndhurst notecards and posters! Lyndhurst Mansion in Tarrytown, NY is a beauty inside and out. We loved the Holiday Tour that we took a few weeks ago, and the Grounds Tour that we took last year was fantastic too. The folks at Lyndhurst know how to dress a mansion up for the holidays! The building, which is stunning on its own, looks spectacular in red, blues, pinks, and golds for their Holiday Classic Mansion Tours. It’s definitely worth the visit if you are in the Tarrytown area.

On the first leg of our research trip up north, we stopped at the beautiful Taste NY Market at the Capital Region Welcome Center, located on the NYS Thruway just south of Albany. It was great to see our posters, notecards, and magnets displayed alongside a wonderful selection of products made in New York.

We had a great visit to the Armor-Stiner (Octagon) House in Irvington, NY this weekend.
The house, which is gorgeous to begin with, looks especially beautiful covered in Christmas decorations.
We had great guides and loved touring the three levels of the house that are open. The octagon shape makes for some interesting rooms (several triangles) and unique furnishings. Definitely worth a visit!
